Anyone ever had this in their ribs? If so how long till you could get back to work and how long till you were 100%? Luckily the crap weather has hit at the same time.

Training in jiu jitsu mate....I'd explain further exactly how but I'm not sure if you know the positions. Very painful :(

Bedroom antics is my best guess. ;D ;D

Haha I wish mate ;D

I did it, it is as bad as breaking ribs, and will take up to six weeks to heal.

By heal mate do you mean till you were 100% or till back to work?

I also did this about 2 years ago. They wouldn't X-ray it as they don't treat broken ribs so they said just rest. It was a good 8 weeks before I was 100% again because I didn't rest up.

I used to do a part time job when I was in between college, and the boss man tried to get some weeds out of his outboard engine propeller, and being the fairly big guy that he was, he broke his ribs doing it. Seemed to still come to work, I'm not sure how much more painful this would be. Definitely not fit for cleaning.

I was back at work in a few days, but well dosed up on painkillers. All healed up over six weeks ish. Bloody painful.

Thanks for all the replies chaps. I think im just going to have to bite the bullet and get back to work asap. It wouldn't be too bad but the mrs hairdressing salon is quiet after crimbo as well as me being off. The pain is no where near as bad as it was but i dont think i would like to be stretching over a connie with the pole fully extended put it that way. Cheers lads

Oh my, how did I forget this! I caught a cold and couldn't stop sneezing, one of the most excruciating pains you could ever imagine!
-
like said above not much you can do for it , when i did one of my ribs took ages to get back to normal and yes coughing ,sneeking , and laughing realy hurts
-
I had a similar injury in september from wakeboarding wipeout. Get some physio asap. it seems a strange thing because the ribs aren't something you can massage but if they can help you open up your chest to breathe properly you will feel such relief. took me til start of january to be 100 % back to normal.

To be honest lads im feeling better every day....apart from the caughing, sneezing hiccups and the mrs having to help me out of bed for a p*ss in the night haha!

Took 16 weeks for me ... Coped ok but everytime I moved
Quickly the pain almost made me puke. I was able to work
On codine or tramadol, it was the sudden movement that's a killer.
Also had diazepam at weekends to help relax .
Good luck

Iv been on the diazepam and tramadol mate.....brilliant stuff aint it ;D. When i first done it i thought i was going to throw up as well i was in that much pain. Just hope it never happens again because my instructor has suffered on and off with it for years :'(

I did three ribs and the muscles underneath about six years ago. Diazepam and Tramadol for me too. Diazepam is yummy¡ As others have said, take things easy and when you return to work do a few half days first.
Think before you move, sounds stupid but it slows you down and helps prevent jerky movements.

6/8 weeks

I remember getting to about 4 weeks, healing nicely. Then I lifted the reel out of tge back of the van and bang....back in agony and right back to the start. Horrible part of the body to injure.
