It depends how much you want to spend mate. I have a fiat scudo with 500 litres Its big enough for me and it has a big payload 900kg. It has not broke down yet in two years.
Also a ford transit connect are worth a look

We've just changed one of our vans for a Citroen Dispatch 2.0 LWB and I must say that already I am very impressed with it.  We've had Fiat Ducatos, fine solid vehicles, Vauxhall Vivaro, pretty van but crap engines, Renault Trafic, same as Vivaro crap engine

For 1 man you really do not need to go bigger than scudo/expert/dispatch.

My personal preference would be to have a 500l tank, so you need to go for a vehicle that will fit the size tank you want and be OK on payload.

Had trafic from new done 80,000 miles in it with no major problems, ball joint & brake discs this with a 650 ltr tank in back, 2 hose reels, poles etc. and full roof rack.
Now have a new vivaro sportive, only done 4,000 miles in it and loving it. These are vans that drive like cars, ok you get problems with some but mine was ok.

Oh by the way, I have a Citroen Relay swb 1.9TD for sale complete with tank, pump etc, cos it drives like a van.

Agree with the above , best and most reliable vehicle I have ever owned . Just get a 2.5 tdi as the 1.9 is gutless .

That's interesting to know, I'm looking for a bigger setup and heard good things about the Hiace.

I'm looking to sell a 05 Renault Trafic LL29 at beginning of Feb, fitted with Ionics Thermopure PRO6 600ltr system and van is speedlined. Van has 131K on it. £5,500.

I sold Vivaro over Christmas and could have sold this at the same time but needed time to kit up new van first.

Dispatch , transit and landrover 110.

Is the load area long enough for poles or do you have some sort of rack?

Soapy, You are now officially the Landie god. Is a 90 pickup bed  too short for a single WFP setup? or is it 110 all teh way...?

Pole goes in cab in between the 2 front seats and hose reel goes on back seat., As I have a tonneau type lid on back and.not a canopy .Mike

You could get a 400l or so tank in a 90 no problem. We only have 450l tanks in our 110s. This is because it keeps the centre of gravity very low. To be perfectly honest you can not tell whether the tank has water in it when you are driving because our set up is extremely stable on the road.

Im starting to like the Landrover idea. Yes as far as carrying a load its over specced .
But that means Im less likely to trash it with overwork.
It would have a secondary use as a towtruck to replace the knackered old trooper which
I currently use to feed my habit of dragging a caravan around on a weekend.

and I have to say Soapy's Landie is easy to recognise . Great form of advertising your presence ...

they hold oney too, i bought the red one for £8500 in 2007 and sold it
last may for £9000 ok i added wheels and rack but not many other trucks can
boast a proffit in 5 years after being used as a window cleaning truck!

fuel wasnt good in winter , only 22mpg with all the stop starting and short journeys.
