ive got a few shops dotted round not many for those who do quite a lot of shops have you just picked them up over the years by cleaning ones nearby or have you pushed to get them on most of shops by me there so bloody loyal to there crap window cleaners it winds me up there not bothered bout a better service or alue for money
-
perhaps they are getting value for money & reliability no point changing to save £2,3,4 a week
i only do a few (shop fronts)plus a big house hold goods/furniture shop had a few come & go over the years never really canvassed any & they have all been my own jobs not subbed.
-
Loyal? probably getting them done for peanuts more like! ;D
In your shoes I wouldn't even consider these "shops". I would concentrate on larger commercial & domestic.
-
just annoys me something bad coz if i had a shop front id want it to be the cleanest shop around first impressions count n the state of some place round my way are disgraceful i dont think many of them actually look at there propertys from someone else view point
we cleaned a largish solicitor firm round by mine and only charged £30 to clean the whole front prob size of ten shop front including all the signs, underneath the windows door frames etc it came up mint they were made up but there not interested in signing up on monthly just as n when the money they charge etc

is this a figure of speech or do you have contracts? people inc business are scared of financial commitment these days.
-
i think there are 2 sorts in general, either they wont change until the old window cleaner dies or moves away or they are run by nationals,
-
i dnt use contracts unless it was prob over £150 a month
-
I'm the same mate only few shops dotted
About, I wanted the ones local to me so went
Knocking
£2-£3 every 2 weeks there done for on average
After my research I'm not intrested any more
I no a load all done together could be worth it
But I can't be bothered going I a shop for £2 tbh

i never said that but half these doleys who do them dont know how to add value and increase there prices etc making it harder for the more professional companies to compete as most people feel tight sacking there cleaner whose done a crap job but only charges £2 a visit 5 days a week which they prob dont really need where me on the other hand would got once or twice a week and charge £10-15 but clean everything for them and do a really quality job

i hear what your saying but the shop owners as you know only really want these extra bits done now & then & generally when they are minging!
most just want the kebab & vomit off the glass for a fiver a go.

You'll probably find that these people cleaning the shops for two quid ARE the professionals!
-
Its the same with domestic cleans some custys want a quick wipe of
the glass for a cheap price and are happy with that, some want a quality clean and are prepared
to pay more.
Others pay top money for a rubbish clean and dont care its the nature of this
business.

I have a mate been window cleaning 20 yrs 37 yrs old ....all he does is shops. bucket & trad pole thats it, works about 3 days a week obviously he has it good, but his round value has always hovered around the same figure for years due to losing/gaining work.
it helps that he is tighter than a camels backside in a sand storm though ;D

And you will find that they will have a very limited cleaning budget too :o

The thing I just cannot understand about our shop owner in the U K that don`t want to spend on the outside of there shops. This view is called the outside optic of a business and is so important attracting more business. They seem to not pay much attention to this important factor.I totaly amazes me at times.
I have a shop in a complex were I live and his windows are a mess of dirt, puke, scratches and stains on the window yet he will do nothing to smarten up the shop front. He always complaines of people buying on the internet.I have asked him why they shop on the net.I never get a answer.

i cleaned my girlfriends new shop for free(obviously!) last week with a trad pole and squeegee and i saw the guy who does all the shops round there(its a VERY affluent area)and he was standing on a beer crate with an old squeegee and bucket,no b.o.a.b!!he even had a flat cap on(he is about mid fifties).
and when i was in new york i only seen one windy cleaning shop fronts.he looked like an old hells angel with long greasy hair and a beard with a ponytail! ;D ;D ;D ;D
they can keep their shop fronts!I DONT WANT EM!! ;D ;D ;D
most have to be cleaned early and i dont like to start before 9am!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Dear me! have we got out of bed on the wrong side? :o
I clean mainly shops and am fairly happy with my hourly rate, I give all my customers receipts with my name and address on and pay my taxes. I take pride in my work and my customers want there shops looking good and work hard to keep there businesses running. If they want the sign or facia's cleaned i charge extra but I don't push them to commit to having them cleaned more often because I know just how tough it is on the high street.
It's funny how you think shop cleaners are tax dodgers when we have to give proper receipts !I have always thought window cleaners who clean house might be more likely to do that as quite often no receipt is given, but I'm sure it's only a few who might do that.
