Available next week, the Aqua-dapter™ Mk3XL…

is very light, only 125g (lighter than an iPhone 4)
has a new shorter, barbed, outlet pipe
easy to fit (no modification to the pole needed)

Now 125g…
- 45g lighter than a Mk3L
- 55g lighter than a Mk3
- 90g lighter than a Mk2

Because I have a fairly new SLX I've found most of the weight of the Aquadapter seems to be the stem that allows it to fit into the pole. Is it the 'pole adapter'?

This isn't shown on the pictures on the site with the Aquadapter and probably isn't included in the weight although I haven't weighed my MK3.

I wonder if the new one still has the same attachment

After much debate I decided to order the mark 3 L. But Paul very kindly sent me an email saying that the order was being held back so as I can have the new mark 3 XL. Very kind and I would call that good service! Cheers to the guys at Aqua-dapter!

The stem you are referring to wont make much difference to the end weight of the pole, and the new AD will sill have that, what they have done is produce a lighter tap inside the AD, which is lighter, I've always thought this what gave it the most weight. Hopefully it will be a big improvement.

Just received email from them earlier today it looks like big improvement as the weight issue is what puts me off using it.

Really dont think they are worth almost 50 quid .
A tap does me fine under a tenner. Always people on here with problems with them. springs going. jamming on ect ect.

Hi sfwc,

I think it's often the case with any product that the minority who have a problem are those who post, partly to find out if anyone else has also experienced it.

The vast majority for who things work fine often don't feel the need to post.  We get really good feedback too, so I'm not complaining!

Some of the posts less enthusiastic posts I've seen recently are from people who've only used old models (which the majority were very happy with anyway), the newer models are all much lighter and have other improvements too.

We did have an issue early on with the springs.  The latest ones last much longer.  We replace broken ones under the warranty and spares don't cost much.

The "jamming" issue was with one single batch of Mk2s, unfortunately the ones sold at the Cleaning Show 2011.  If the product is kept clean, without any lubricant being put in, which actually causes problems, then they don't jam.

We give a 12 month warranty and the price also includes 8m of our orange hose, which is really popular.  We also offer a 28 day money back satisfaction guarantee.

I've got two mk2's which are 2 years old now, each have had 2 springs. They have given us perfect service.

We used to go through on/off taps every couple of months, so tbh our experience is that the A/D's have saved us money on replacement taps and fitting time over this period.

Hi Ben,

Yes, you would need an End Screw.  The one we supply if you select "Gardiner QR Clamp (for CL-X or SL-X)" next to "Pole Adapter" is http://www.aqua-dapter.co.uk/accessories/quick-release-pole-adapter-end-screw/ which has a longer shaft to spread load further down the pole.  From memory it's approx 60g (we don't make it).

If correct that's half the weight again of the new AD. Any way of getting that lighter?

I'm not really the person to ask :-\

We used to use a shorter end screw, but the longer shaft does have the benefit of spreading the load further down the pole.

The Phoenix ones are about 35g I think, but they have a different diameter shaft, so aren't interchangeable.

Hi Enrique,

Everyone makes their own choice of course.  If the small number who had some issues a while ago puts you off, I'm sorry.

The latest springs last much longer.  We replace any that do break ones under the warranty and spares don't cost much, and can be fitted on the job if necessary.

If the product is kept clean, without any lubricant being put in, which actually causes problems, then they don't jam.

Thanks I may order one was put off by weight before but now have a light brush, can you seperate the pole from the hose, as I would be using the hose on a reel so would need to pack the pole away and disconnect it

I'm not sure I understand the question, most people would have a connector from the hose on the reel to their pole hose, Something like a Rectus 21 or our Quick Connects.

If using the pole hose on a reel, you could just use a push-fit connector at the end of the hose when at collapsed length, and allow it to go inside the pole when working.  Then I'd probably recommend our Push-Fit Straight Connector Stop Valve.

Hope this helps.  Feel free to email me sales@aqua-dapter.co.uk if you have any other questions.
