I have diesel heaters, but got another van and want to try one of these cheap tankless LPG heater's. I see that some companies are doing them with the cut off and some are not. Does it matter?
Also, what's the most reliable out there? The l5 seems to have been around a while, so I'm more focused towards that one, but have found this that looks good value.

Any help or advice would be great.

If you do go for the L5 get the one without the 20 min cut off as it does annoy you after a while.
Saying that if possible I would swerve the L5 full stop in my experience it is very temperemental. When I buy another heater it wont be an L5.
-
while cleancares point is valid and perhaps can be a bit of annoyance the 20 min is a safety feature, i do have an l5 (finally broke today) and i havent found the 20min cutout to be a problem, for as soon as you stop the flow of water (for windowcills etc) it will reset itself... i used to use hot on everything, now i only really use it to stop the hoses freezing on very low and it does this all day long -5 today.
i have just bought exactly the same one as you are looking at so hopefully it will be a nice as it looks
-
ive been working all day with my L5 and its never cut out on me yet, never had it running long enough.
dont forget the cut off is a safety device that cuts it off when the heater gets to hot! or put it another way, to stop heater packing up, plus dont forget its gas!!!!!
all you need to do is stop the flow of water until the heater turns off then start all over again, it resets it self, if you get in a habbit of doing it each 10 minutes you will have no problem.
plus i know my L5 has a daily runing cost of just under £1.30 a day!

Thanks for the replies guys.
So for safety, its worth having the cut off.
Where did you get you L5 from Richard?

i got it from the only uk based company selling them, they cost a little more at £167 but at least you can send it back cheaply if there is problems,
buying some of those other heater for other places can have a customes charge added on to them when they come into the uk, extra £30. plus if there is a problem then you have to pay the postage back to that place and wait.

Lee my old mucker, you have posted this a couple of times...surely if their are 2 of you, you will work twice as fast hence making the timer less of an issue rather than more? please explain? ??? :)

It depends what size houses you clean, or how many houses in a row, or if it's commercial work. I know the way we work that we would regularly have the heater running continuously over 20 mins. The trouble is, even if you use a tap/AD, when you turn the flow off the pump will continue to run for another 10-15 seconds before the pressure switch or DE cuts in. So if you turn the flow off between windows, the chances are, the pump never stops, so the timer doesn't get chance to reset itself

comes with the regulator to the gas bottle, hose to the gas bottle, and a shower head, you do need a few other fitting to get water to it and from it

the L5 is a flueless one, just got to keep doors open a bit to allow them to get out, i bult my own flue to help with it tho.

the best way to over come this is to soak a window, turn water off then scrub the window then turn water back on and carry on, i find it works a treat

Anyone used the Kampa Geyser?
Yes me ;D

Poleman, just to clarify, this heater you've linked to is flueless and electronic ignition?
And only needs to connect to a propane bottle?
How long do the batteries last?
You've got one, I assume?
How long have you had it?
Thanks

Looks a better setup than the l5
-
Had my L5 for 3 winters now (only use it when temps are sub zero tho), still working a treat. Just remember to drain them down overnight. I'm still on the same set of batteries too.
