I've got a shurflo pump - they have a inbuilt pressure switch - and normally when you attach a flow controller to it, you disconnect the pressure switch and the flow controller does the same job.  Basically the pressure switch senses when there's a dead end (i.e. you stop the flow using an aquadapter/tap/nip the hose) and it switches off the pump until the flow is allowed to run again.

It's just two wires that run from the top of the pump into the pressure switch at the bottom of the pump.

I might stick a pic up later; I've my pumps in the house.

i think you are not right Tosh. The bottom one should be wired to the pump and not the opposite.

I copied directly from Ian_Gile's system when I re-wired my pumps back up - both of them - and they've been working perfectly for some months now.

Maybe you can wire them up either way?  I dunno?

I'm building a second system so any info helps. Have you sorted out your diy controller yet?

Start your seduction when I've gone to bed.

Nearly, this is the motor controller:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290736054991?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 for £6 - it's 10 amp and someone told me to use a 15 amp one instead; but I'll try this one first 'cos I've already got it.

It's really simple to wire up; it tells you on the back of the board what wire goes where:

And I've just stuck it in an old flow controller box I had (which cost me £90 'cos it was a split charge relay one too, but I never used that anyway) and it looks like this:

I just need to connect it up, but I can't find my spades, so I'll do it shortly.

Hopefully.  :-[

Tosh, it was mentioned that and I quote'you need to put a switch onlive inside of it otherwise it could overheat and burn out' Have you done that? if so what switch and where did you get it?
