Another business that failed to keep up with modern times. Im surprised they have lasted until now with Lovefilm and Netflix increasing their market share.
The blockbusters near me was always filthy anyway, looks like it hadn't been cleaned in years.

Wont be halfords as they have just done a deal with dvla to have 1500 test centres based in their stores from next year
Currys wont go either as they are a sister company of pc world
Thorntons have closed over 150 stores of their own and are carrying on with there franchisee's stores and some of there own
whsmiths run the post office in alot of places, so couldnt see them going (maybe reducing)
B&Q wouldnt go as Focus diy has gone meaning more share for them and they do alot more than just residential - there is the trade side aswell that does well
WaterStones is a possibility - they have shut down my local one over night, removed the sign and nothing in the window to say anthing about it or where the next closest is.
Brighthouse id say no. They do credit and for those with low credit ratings. people in these times want nice things but cant always afford to go out and buy them. brighthouse offers them to get these things and pay in installments

but what about marshalls ladderless , all this snow an ice , all those custy s saying miss me this time round , ;D

I can't remember where I was but I had a chat with someone very high up in the scheme of things and his words are coming true.
We were talking about the state of the economy and the big names that were toppling - he said - you've seen nothing yet, next year will be chaos (2013). The damage has already been done in the last five years and I know that B & Q were in debt to about 100 million as just one of the examples given.
The high street has no right to expect customers money, the game has changed and it has not adapted. We get the complaint all of the time when we go into towns where a new store is going up - this will kill the town!!!
They failed to adapt - it is no different to the changes that have happened in window cleaning in the last 20 years.
Rob ;D

yup with the name and brand reconition if they had got into online on demand in front of others they be massive today.

I gave up with blockbuster years ago when I went in to rent a film that wasnt even a new release infact 18months old and still i had to pay full rental of new release and back by tomorrow or else.
A dvd rental store down the road rented the same film for £1 for 5 nights.
Where do you think I started renting from.
Shame though as that store went years ago and I dont really watch films anymore, it has to be something really good for me to watch.

Blockbuster's on my round look terrible run down the staff were suppose to clean the windows but only having one staff member at one time which I thought you weren't allowed to do (h&s) they never got done.
