Title: Thinking about a Truckmount - service and repairs in West Yorkshire
Post by: G Rhodes on January 15, 2013, 03:01:48 pm
Hi All

Im thinking about moving from my porty to a used truckmount - cant afford a new one!

My one problem in im not the most mechanically minded so im wondering about the repair of it in the Huddersfield (west yorkshire) area

If it breaks who would fix it? Also who can service it?

Does anyone know anybody in these parts who can do it

Thanks

G

General servicing like oil, filters and plugs if petrol you could do yourself,
easier than riding a bike.

Engine, most mechanics could sort
Pump, any pressure washer repairer,
Heat exchanger, depending what was the problem, a fabricator, welder.
My hx split and my mate re-welded it, i gave him 4 bottles of real ale and 40 toilet rolls  ;D

Not a lot else to go wrong, depending which machine you go for.
A lot of lawnmower repairs are quite handy to know, specially if it has a Briggs engine.

I am hopeless at electrics and find my tm easier to sort.

They dont go wrong that often, and great work horses. make life easier.

just to add, if your unsure, take someone with you when you purchase that knows there way around them, there are a few good guys on here depending where machine was from, or on truckmounters forum they all have TM's.

Tbh Graeme it's a nightmare you'd have thought in the industrial part of the country there would be loads of places to pop in to but most just don't want to know, I take mine to alltec it's a very good service they offer, okay it's not around the corner but they will do everything they can to accommodate.

Russ's prowler apart from looking mint is easy to look after you can even pull it off the van to maintain and it's a good price.

I've got a fully refurbished Blazer Plus for sale, excellent machine and very reliable. Can't believe I haven't sold it ten times over given the asking price.

I would echo Shaun and take it to Alltec. Its probably 31/2 hours away from you and they really do a first rate job at a very reasonable price. Sometimes you cannot pick a place to have a service centre, you just have to travel. It's best to have someone under one roof that has everything to hand and parts in stock. Just have to get up early and drive there!!
