Title: Gortex clothing
Post by: lee_dewing on January 14, 2013, 01:52:38 pm
Hi guys,

Anyone recommend some decent gortex jacket and trousers.

Looking at a tracksuit type jacket or running jacket i think they call and trousers, zip pockets if poss.

Not looking to work in heavy rain but fed up with that damp feeling on my clothes and also taking off bomber jacket to find damp with sweat.

Cheaper the better :D
But i do realise cheap and quality don't usually go together.

north face jacket £150-£160
ski pants(you can get some good deals at TK MAXX)£30

bergaus light explorer goretex boots£100-£120

so for around £300 you can get a good waterproof outfit.

mines worth its weight in gold lee and allows me to work in virtually any weather.

regards

I recommend Dri waterproof suits. Excellent & great value £60, boots I'm using scruffs w-proof boots these days.

Done the berghaus, northface & don't rate them at the cost, but each to there own.

Daz was gonna say you have to turn work wear around quick in the washing machine?
But 2-3 pairs of ski pants.
How often do you wash your jacket have you got a link for it?

How do you wash Gortex if it's 100% waterproof ;D

Thanks guys.

lee i wear the ski pants every day in winter and wash them at the end of the week.just one pair lasts me all week.

as for the goretex jacket i wash it about once a month or so and use NIKWAX which you can get from any outdoor store.i also re proof it with some other special NIKWAX stuff about once every 6 months.

i used to buy the cheap regatta jackets etc and their all rubbish and dont keep you dry!!

IMO its worth spending a bit on decent gear as its easier to crack on in bad weather and make more money!! ;) ;D ;D ;D

Hi lee,

This should take you to the Springfield jacket, there is also a matching trouser.
