An old boy walked past me while I was cleaning just before xmas and asked for a quote it was in a street where I was already doing 6 houses and have done for 2 yrs so went round quoted him and got the job while I was there I picked up his neighbour and 2 across the street (the old boy knew them) any way quoted them all and got all the jobs cleaned them all everyone was happy......
Get a call off one of them this morning saying I'm cancelling due to my grandson being out of work and he's going to do them... ok thanks for letting me know have a nice day I say :)
Within 45 mins the old boys ringing up saying I'm going to cancel as I'm going to get up a ladder and do them myself (no way would he be getting up a ladder)!!! So I say goodbye to him too....
I'm just waiting for the other 2 to cancel now >:(
I know I went in £4 dearer with the first cancellation as they told me the price of previous cleaner who hadn't turned up in ages so maybe he has come back or someone else has undercut me? I know a good job was done as the previous cleaner was wfp and I am too, doing my head in a bit as I rarely get cancellations only to people moving or dying really and I know these twos excuses don't add up ???

The main thing is that those lovely custies had nice clean windows for Christmas.
Bless you.

Don't lose any sleep over it!! There are plenty more customers out there!! I lost a few to an undercutter a couple of years ago, I now have all of them back as he stopped cleaning them, I made the customers grovel to get me back, and I put the prices up!! ;D

Unfortunately they will very really tell you the truth, but yes I agree with Andy, they were Christmas cleans.
We always seem to get those few that have been looking for a window cleaner when you have worked the street for years - they almost always seem to be in Dec and they mostly cancel a few cleans later. First clean double, especially in Dec or first clean in Jan usually weeds them out.
The first window cleaning call of the new year for us was a cancellation. "Their old window cleaner had turned up who had been ill for a long time."
The windows and frames were so dirty first clean that their previous window cleaner must have been ill for years. I wasn't unhappy as they were difficult to park up and sometimes had to come back later when there was a place to park. In their case, she was at her sisters when she saw me cleaning windows and he called to cancel after the second clean. Each time they were left good, so it wasn't that.
Canvass, clean, cull - excellent moto to keep you sane and in control by not taking it personally.

I was thinking that Andy... but by the way they were all talking there was definitely a previous cleaner and the windows weren't all that bad except the one house who hasn't cancelled yet hers looked rough compared too the rest which I thought was strange at the time.

same thing happened to me mate the start of jan

i lost 2 back after xmas , miffed as to why no explanation both knew each other, didnt like them much to begin with. anyway same area same day picked up 2 more new customers, easier to clean better people. i hope they ask me back i will just blank them. i dont mind people cancelling me regarding money issues , with the price of heating bills , food etc you can expect it, cant do them too cheaply.

They were some other window cleaner's customer who 'let them go' for some reason - probably the window cleaners fault TBH. ;D

it happened to me .. picked up 2 bungerlows which hadnt been done for 12 months as other windie had dissapeared.
Usual "oh the other window cleaner did em for £4" ............ I was £12 each but big bungerlows ... anways done em once then when due got phone call from old dear 1 telling me the other windie was back and thet wanted him to do them .... 5 mins later old dear 2 rings me and cancels and says dont worry if he lets us down again we will call you ...... i replied along lines of dont bother as I only take on proper customers and I think he (other windie) has learnt his lesson this time and wont be going back inside ;D
