Title: Another Leafletting Post
Post by: Jack Harris on January 12, 2013, 12:02:19 pm
I originally built my round by buying a small amount of work and canvassing. And i was just wondering if many people on here had built there round just by leafletting? as thinking about giving it a go this year :)

How many did you put out mate before you started getting a response? just trying to get a rough idea as i've never used this method for getting work before.

In the early days I was out every day of the week. 300 to 500 every day. Re leaflet areas on a regular basis for best results. once you have a customer always leaflet neighbours everytime you clean.

I flyered every house in my town, twice in a year, a few years back, and the phone wouldnt stop ringing.

I photocopied my flyers, 4 to a A4 page and that was it. Minimal cost in return for maximum response.

This was about 7/8 years ago, and as a result I now have 5 or more customers in pretty much every street in my town. My last count was 460 ish customers, so prob just hitting 500 now.

Only ever advertised once in the yellow pages and got nothing from it really, a couple £10 houses thats about it.

In my opinion, flyering is the way forward  ;) (then again ive never door knocked)

So you pop a flyer into the same houses every month?

If you are just starting out, and don't have many customers yet, then the very best method is to leaflet an area on ie a monday, put on the leaflet that you will call around at an approx time the next day, then knock on their door when you said you would, I did this on a new estate, and picked up 100+ customers in a week, out of 300 houses on the estate. Once I built up a reasonable customer base, I didn't get time for door knocking, but have had good success with leaflets, I only target properties that I want to do, ie big houses in wealthy area's.

I started in 2005, i bit the bullet and paid for 10,000 leaflets to go out, this was in November so was a bit worried about the time of year.

That drop set me up, and ive built my round up on leaflets alone. Im dropping 10,000 per month for next 6-7 months to build back up again, as ive not put any out for last 2 years, and ive really noticed it too!!!

I've already got work but got a helper 2 days a week and he wants to come full time so i need to get  more work thinking of putting 10,000 out then follow up canvassing a few days later, hopefully this will work :)

whats the cost on that scale of drop every month mate?

I'm playing around with my marketting stratgey etc for the forth coming year offest against budget and cost at the mo so keen to see how much this will cost,,

You hiting the same areas every month too?

When i leaflet, i only hit each area once for the year, maybe i will try twice just to see.

For the print and delivery, it costs me £476, thats for 10000 a5 colour both sides delivered shared.

One side i have windows and the other conservatories. I always get enough conservatories of each drop to cover the cost plus more.

It works for me, but others may not agree. i have a target of an extra £2k 4 weekly work. and i will have that by mid summer  :)

I dont have window cleaning on adwords, but all my add ons, what ever my adwords bill is, it works out i earn 10 fold that amount!!!

no secret really, i just got someone who knows what theyre doing to do it for me. Its easy to set up, but to get real results, let someone else do it.

I have a connie clean and fascia clean for next week £125 and £150, both from adwords, imagine what its like when the spring and summer is here.
