Title: leaky fittings

i keep all my old fittings in a tin in the shed [ dont know why ] anyway i have gone through about 7 rectus fittings and about 5 snaplock fittings , im no good with names so let me explain , the fitting on end of pole hose and fitting on end of microbore hose , only been in the game abot 10 months so i reckon im changing my fittings at least every month and sometimes after a week im getting spray as im slotting them together , they arnt cheap as you all know . the latest pair are spraying all over me , sometimes if i loosen / tighten the jubilee clips it helps for a bit , i just seem to acept that every sunday im messing about with fittings , when i reel my hose in it does drag along the ground , i know i should be a bit more carefull but im not , so other than being carefull , any tips to at least get a month out of my fittings , ta gang   :'( :'( :'(

Firstly, don't drag them around the ground.  When you finish a job, walk the reel hose end rectus fitting back to your van, and then reel in.

I also give my rectus fitting a quick squirt of WD40 every morning; not inside the female fitting (the hole); but around the outside and this really does seem to increase the life of the connector.

Don't keep on connecting and disconnecting either; it just increases wear 'n' tear.  Some lads never disconnect them; they have a tap either on the pole hose or the reel hose, and just turn that off; they then reel in the reel hose with the pole hose still connected.

use of a protecta ball helps pauls

Agreed and as tosh  said don't drag um around!!

I have had my set on for well over 6 months now with no leaks :)

Use rectus 26 fitting instead of 21 Paul

Last a lot longer

And as tosh said walk the mend of you hose back
To the van b4 you reel in
