i have just noticed the same thing, clear varnish is meant to sort it someone said on a transit forum im going to key and then paint it, i suppose you could use protecta kote but it would be quite expensive

Rub it down and you can use any external wood stain on it. This will work to keep water off it, plus it's not expensive to buy it!

Mine is ply lined and varnished at the mo

Thinking of ripping it out and applying a water proofing type paint supllied free from a massive waterproofing / sealants company where the missus works...

I let you know how that works and maybe be able to get a job lot cheap if anyone interested

Think the leaks n drips have worked under the floor ply so want to sort that out

plus i have noticed i have condensation problem to roof in the rear of the van ??? ??? any ideas or is this common ( i suspect not)

Thanks
Paul

That's just a normal thing when water in inside the van, more ventilation is the only answer on that.

Yer, a friend has got his van lined with a thick plastic and has insulation between that and the van, that seems to stop his from doing it.

Hi,
Do you put eggshell paint straight on the metal panels? Does this protect the side panels as good as ply lining?
  Cheers,
     Steve

Personal I wouldnt, best to ply line as this will stop dents being made if something inside hit the walls, once ply line is in then paint with egg shell

its a pint for painting inside houses, not desifned for vans or metal work.

Eggshell paint can refer to a color, usually an off white, but the reference generally refers to a sheen. There is no industry standard for paint sheens, so one company's Eggshell can be another company's Satin, Matte or Low Gloss. At Rodda Paint our Eggshell falls between our Pearl and our Low Gloss having a reflectance value slightly higher than the actual shell of an egg. The benefit to this type of Eggshell is that it is extremely washable, releasing dirt from its surface easily and keeping its fresh look.

good luck with that! having to apply 2 coats and have a 7 day to fully cure! think i'll pass on that!

you got to mix the whole lot and you have between 10 minutes to an hour to apply it

Protecta-kote is pre mixed, dont have a set time to apply it, and takes 12-24 hours to fully cure!

Applying it isnt a problem

I seen and noted the 7 days

But....also noted the traffic time of 2 hours..

If its good for traffic after 2 hours sure it wil be good for my tank etc.. to go back in..

Ganna try it anyways see how it goes

to me going over the same area twice with a product seems a waste of time, when you can get one that only takes one coat.

good luck hope it goes well, have to get some pic's up when its done.
