Does anybody know what the old wcw backpack pump was in lpm? Think mine is getting a bit tired now, changed the battery and hose but the flow is still really slow. Used to be a lot better. There are various lpm pumps on flea bay so may go for the next one up.

I had one yellow it was.
Not sure of lpm but did time it from full to empty it was 6 minutes dead.

Was just going to replace the pump with a higher lpm one . They go from 3 lpm to 5

I have just replaced the pump on my orange wcw backpack. The old pump sounded so desperate and the flow rate seemed to have dropped as well.
I also took out the flow control as I only want it on full flow.
The new pump sounds pretty dismal, was ok to start with but after about a week it seems to have dropped the flow rate again, def not 6 minutes to empty as in a previous post.
This is my second backpack, the first one went the same way and i replaced it rather than just the pump.
Any ideas why they keep losing the flow rate?
Might try the new larger backpack, anyone got one?

Just ordered new pump so dont say that :o
Maybe i could rewire it at the same time, some of the conections etc can get a bit coroded (spelling)
A 3.8lpm pump,in theory should empty in about 4 1/2 mins. Nice!!
-
Will do a time test!, hopefully today. very useful to have other peoples timings.
-
Hi Jarvy Your back pack would have a 3.6 liter per minute 70psi if you contact John and order a 80 psi and 3,5, or 4 liter per liter back pack and also change my pump, you will be on the right track I have the same backpack and changed the pump.
Call John he will help you with the right pump.

Well! 15 minutes with a new pump on orange wcw backpack. What is going wrong? The battery is showing a 12v and theres no flow control to affect it. baffled!

Thanks for that,ordered a 80 psi 3.8lpm pump yesterday.
Just timed the flow of the old pump, 1min 42sec to pump a ltr!!

Thats on a new battery,fully charged ;D

The pump`s diafram are leaking so water is leaking back into your supply.Hence your flow is low.Its just worn out.
-
It also doesn't cut out when tap is closed,i assume this is down to the diaphram too as its not building up enough pressure.

mine does that when the battery is starting to get low.

Just as a possible bit of help for the future! I changed the battery for a spare, and boy what a difference, back up and running at fast flow
I'd taken a voltage reading but it must have been knacked.
What a fantastic day today after having terrrible flow.

We've been using the WCW backpacks every day for 2 years.
Periodically the flow controllers fail and one of the symptoms of that is flow is reduced. That would be the first thing I would check. The charger units that are shipped with the backpacks also fail. I fried a couple of batteries before I realised what the problem was. I bought a quality charger specific for the batteries and some quality batteries and I've never had a charging issue since. I've never had a pump fail.

This is the old one, with no flow controller. I dont use the charger that came with it,it charges it at too quick a rate. With gel cell batts you cant charge them too quick as it kills 'em.
New pump arrived today so will get that fitted and job's a good 'un!
Gonna take the old one apart and replace the diaphram and keep as a spare.

never had a problem . with pump .on wcw backpacks every other problem .but never pump ;D

Where is the best place to buy a DECENT charger then and what rating do we need? thanks.
