Got a customer email me not a regular wants her gutter cleared on a 3 floor town house had someone do it last year with a gutter vac but it hasn't worked.
What are the options to do the job safely my thoughs are ladders are a no no due to the height which only leave a spider lift of which i think i would need a ipaf licence for ???

how do you know if he didn't do it right last time
you say last year,im assuming 12 months ago,depending on location a lot can happen to gutters in 12 months
so maybe the gutter vac is the best option

Yeah totally agree I use the gutter vac and cctv so i can see its empty i can also walk the customer round for them to see, but if it is 12 months then it should be done either 6 monthly or yearly, lots of birds around to drop things in the gutter to build up a blockage

The thing is the last guy might not have done the job right or their's a bigger problem with the gutter it would need to be checked with cctv first.
I just want to get my facts right before emailing the customer back.
I can't do the job because i don't have cctv equipment, gutter vac or ipaf licence if a spider lift is needed

I find that if the nice bt or sky people have stuffed
All the wires in the gutter on any floor gutter
Vac sometimes can be useless !

The down pipes could be blocked. Vac not
much use with these.

Why rule out ladders? We very often clean out gutters on townhouses, whilst safely using ladders. In fact I have a couple to do tomorrow. Just make sure to price accordingly (£150 minimum for front & back, more if there are sides)

Because i don't feel working at that height off a ladder with no one footing it is safe plus my life is worth more than £150.

I agree no amount of money is worth risking yourself doing 3 story gutters from a ladder footed or not.
Utter madness but each to there own.

My 22ft'er reaches.

I dont think a 22 foot ladder will reach a top of second floor.That 21 foot atleast and you must allow for the distance away from the wall.

A 22ft ladder will only reach if you pick it up and hold it above your head, like you do with your pole......but we were not discussing Ladder reach, only pole reach.

Could be he actual down pipe is blocked.
I would steer well clear, if it is blocked, do you really fancy poncing about two floors up off a ladder ....?
