Hi, I just got a quote through my bank for Streamline. It costs £22 a month for the portable machine, 24 pence per debit card transaction and 1.38% for a credit card. You have to put at least £15 through it per month. Hope that helps. David.

Check out Adelante. Bit more expensive but if you hae a smart phone then they are brilliant!!

Some area's in cheshire and north wales have major connection/signal problems especially with mobile phone card systems, this can be the case with most hand held bank units. Does paytrader have these issues ????

Just to clarify, the customer doesn't pay the transaction fees - unless you add the charges onto their bill of course!
The rates vary between 2.3% and 2.9% based on your weekly turnover. It's a Pay As You Go service with no monthly fees or minimum usage requirements. There's no minimum term contract either.
With the Payatrader service you can take payments online at your website, by telephone using a free Virtual Terminal, mobile, email and via a 24/7 payments line - handy if there's no mobile signal where you are working. This is all included in the one-off joining fee.
Once you've joined, you have the option to add a pocket GPRS Chip & Pin terminal if you need one.

As you may Know I have been seriously ill for pat 18 months but I am now planning my return.
A problem has poped up in my Window Blind Company.
Another leading local company went bust owing the customers thousands in deposits.
If I used the Paytrader system and took Credit Cards would the customer be protected , I ask so i can reasure customers regarding deposits.
They are importantant as the cost of House of blinds can run into big money so The company needs the assurance of a down payment
What is situation regarding Debit Cards
Up to now we prefered cheques which I held until work was completed but times change

Hi Ian,
Cardholders are provided with various protections by law on credit cards and by the card schemes on both debit and credit against non supply or poor quality supply.
As a consequence, it is a term and condition of Payatrader that payments are taken only in respect of services already provided and not for deposits for future services.
You can take a deposit where a customer has been informed that its not refundable i.e. because you will have incurred costs ordering materials / starting work on the blinds i.e. service has been rendered in lieu of this.

We have just launched a GPRS chip & pin machine with a full roaming SIM - however there are still some UK black spots & that's why we provide a 24/7 contact centre that can process a payment for you as a back up.

To be clear Most of my suppliers order materials straight away and start to make blinds within two days.
This oes cause some problem with cooling off period but hasve checked it out with Blinds and Shutters Association and as long as ustomer agrees to waive this period in order to get blinds there is no problem
So I presume that fits in with paytrader.
Regarding Alerts I think if you go into your profile you can ask for this . I do not because I am flooded with emails on a daily basis with report to adminstrator button etc

There charges are £20 for mobile card-reader you don't need a merchant account. They say,
The iZettle fees are very simple. You pay 2.75 % of the transaction amount for MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club payments with the card reader, and for all Visa payments. For manual transactions on your device, the fee is £0.10 + 3.5 %.
Not sure what the manual transaction bit means?

To be on the safe side I would advise your customers that their deposits are not refundable as you have ordered the materials etc.

All card types EXCEPT visa are straight forward with izettle. With visa cards (credit/debit) after the card is read, a email is sent to the customer and they have to confirm the payment. This has to be done while the card is in the reader. Bit of a pain as most debit cards are visa.
