Post by: Klean07 on January 02, 2013, 12:11:59 pm

No AA said that battery was losing only 0.3% of its charge to something internally which couldn't be traced so not bad really considering that its the same battery from when van was new!

thats on the check list for next year.

Someone was looking down on my that day, and NYE had a full on day and half to do

I had a problem over Christmas with my transit that I thought was a flat battery, it turned out to be the starter motor. £160 to replace - ouch.

I think there is a software glitch on those Connects somewhere.

Son in law has come out twice to a van with a dead battery - replaced first battery and jumped it second time - no problem since.

I know they use the ecu to control the internal cabin light delay which sometimes switches the lights back on after you have gone. I understand they have a software update to sort this on early Connects, but still charge for the update.

The other problem is the cable from the alternator to the battery. For some reason it has taken Ford a long time to sort the insulation problem that effected the wiring running under the battery tray. The insulation breaks down and leave the wires bare in places. Damp conditions can create a small current leak to earth and flatten the battery.

Ford parts know the part no for the replacement harness off by heart, but its a bit of a pain to fit it I'm told.
