Don't wish to be a party pooper but it sounds like you need some help with SEO. Talk to someone who knows. It's all changing at the moment. There's a guy on here on here called 'Nat'. He may be able to help you.

Give adwords express a shot, targeted advertising ...been using adwords return well worth the monthly costs imho
-
I use a fella that does both my sites, he really knows his stuff.
He set my Adwords up for me too, and to give you an idea, this year, what my Adwords costs were, I earnt 10 fold that amount from them, month by month!
He does my pest control site too. In that game you have to have a damn good site and listing as its saturated, but again, the work comes in!
Let me know if you want his details.
-
Mick-can I have his details please?
-
Sure, here's his addy www.consultancymarketing.co.uk
His name is Ian, if you say Mick from M J Cleaning recommended you to him, it will give him a good idea as to what you want!
-
Cheers bud.
I'll tap him up on Thursday

(If you have any) remove any links that are pointing to a load of other windowcleaning sites that have a low page rank (most of them) that affects your site and not in a good way, one way link to good window cleaning sites this will also help you. Seo is starting to die off it is now becoming relevant updated content driven. The older techniques are not working like they used to.
Adwords until you try it you will never know. Letting go of things helps lol ;)

Ian,
when you say relevant updated content, what do you actually mean?
updating your web pages regulars i understand that but.. relevant as in listing the areas you cover? motioning window cleaning a lot or something else completely?

Dave
relevent to window cleaning and your area. Keyword spamming is not good (mentioning window cleaning a lot) to try and trick the search engine bots, used to work not anymore.
Social media helps a great deal with seo

Ian we had a similiar debate on here about a month ago and Dave St Ives asked you to show us one window cleaning company that had benefited from social media usage on the internet. You admitted you couldn't, not one.

Social media may not help window cleaners specifically, but it does help seo.

I dont think I said that Matt.
if I remember that question was pointed at facebook, thats only a part of social media, and on that debate it showed that most people thought the same way.
im not going to try and defend it though, too many people ready to shout something down because they dont understand it (not pointed at you or dave) I learnt that from that debate.
Steve is 100% correct. ;)

I can offer a facebook success story. Even today I picked up 2 new customers both close to existing customers so I offered an incentive on Friday with a ad in my local trade club group. January Facebook Offer - 25% off a deep clean.
Both have been quoted using street view and asked for regular cleans after the first clean.
A simple albeit small example of facebooks unique accessibility to new customers.
I agree with Ian, you don't have to use it but if you do then you WILL gain work.

Is it a good idea to have a page within your site dedicated to just the areas you cover
I'm thinking about adding one that is linked to the image & brief description of the areas covered
Eg having a page that has a full list of all area names ( erith )and poscodes ( da8 ) and a detailed map of area coverage.
Thanks Paul

Its also a good idea to mention area names in your page titles, image ALT tags etc too,...
-

Especially the small towns - everyone will use the big city names in their areas, but there's much less keyword competition for the smaller area names.
