That takes me back! I used to clean ceiling tiles many years ago using a fine spray machine with a peroxide and detergent mix. Great for nicotine but you don't see much of that about now. Used to make my neck ache looking up all the time so now I clean windows with um.. er.. wfp :-[

I once did a similar job last year in a cafe.
I used TFR diluted and just wiped off I also used it on the walls which were stained.

Take a look at   I think www.extracta.co.uk.

I think they are the only Carpet Cleaning supplier promoting the service,

Last Tuesday their was a Watchdog programme on a Franchise Company called The Quick Group

They have Franchises in  Sun Beds

Driveway Renovation,

And suspended Ceiling  renovation.

Acording to a recent Advert in a Franchise Mag I read you can make a good return on all these Franchises.

They even offer a Money Back Guarantee according to Watchdog.

Watchdog Featured Couples who ad invested their houses or gains from other Enterprises in these Franchises.

They were not making money.

The Drivway man claimed he had leafleted for 7 days a week, 8hrs a day with poor results.

graham,
just a thought,, why not look in yellow pages and ask a suspended ceiling company for a few dirty old tiles.
this way you could experiment with different methods and cleaners.

As Ian says, extracta sell a product specifically designed for this job, they also have a power sprayer and long extension lance (about 10') in order to make it easy to apply.  I think it is then just left on to do its job
