Title: whatever happened to.............
Post by: therapist on February 08, 2006, 11:56:41 pm
Other forums

Just had a look at another forum and astonished at the pettyness and dictatorial bahaviour.

Probably find myself redcarded now, but I'm not  ' in the club  ' anyway.

Interesting outcome, of the, recently and  heavily promoted ' best portable in the world ' which is, now, out of favour, having been replaced by the' new kid on the block, which is actually an old kid that's been rejuvenated.

I’m assuming you are referring to the oldest? Would like to look, but not allowed???? The only reason I can think of is my last post re Chemspec machine, my reply may have hit a nerve some where else and which was not directed at! But I stand by, fools rush in new on the block must have! Been there twice nightmare, am referring to cars but the same applies to other things!

Will I lose any sleep over it, think not!

Don’t think the shin gig went any better, believe a lot of nodding dogs, wonder how many have upgraded to the most! Karcher good why should I change!

I don't quite understand the above posts, but if you are being barred from using a forum - ie you can't even get onto it, you are being banned by your IP address.  That is easy to get around.  Just look for some information on "remote proxys" and you will be fine.

I may have got the wrong end of the stick.

I should not comment on other Forums.

But last Summer this Forum received a battering, some of it justified and was rectified

I think it best to use the Forums to gain share and exchange information and have the occasional leg pull.

I think you know what I'm referring to. I commented on the American machine ages ago and only got negative comments, but it's been given an internal makeover and is knocking the socks off the most recently proclaimed,  ' best portable '

Len.

As I understand your comments, it's easier for me to agree wholeheartedly with you.

It would be unfair to say that, fools rush inparticularly when we've probably all been there, at some point, but it does , hope fully illustrate to all, that there is no panacea and it might be better to share experiences and possibly organise manufacturers /distributors/importers, etc to have open days when c/c's can gather round and really get hands on, with products and the industry, as a whole will benefit

Glad you're pleased with your machine Dave.

It's one of many,  to be found  in the states, which have a great deal of power and probably very high performance.

What I reckon is a problem with the UK buyer, is a problem many have with, not only machines, but there lives, generally and they are frequently paying a very high price for their vanity.

IN BUSINESS TERMS

What does it matter if your machine is a square box, rather than a streamlined / pretty /colourful, box.

It's what the machine does that matters, is it not ?

So...............the All American box which I mentioned, as did others a while ago, has finally been accepted due to it's abilities and in spite of it's looks.

Yes I know about the improvements and Ed Valentine  and others are to be commended, but they have done what any manufacturer could do with their products.

We have a post today referring to an ancient machine which apparently is superior to many modern products, so come on manufacturers.

'its what the machine does that matters'

but looks do matter, lets say a machine had all the power you needed, if it looks like a vax custys are not going to be to impressed are they, it shouldnt be that way of course but in reality looks do matter.

whats the seemingly unnamable machine?

It's no secret, it's the long established Recoil, which has been upgraded for the Uk market, which is a bit odd, really, as we've had portables with as much as 1000 psi in the UK market for years

What's caused some discussion, is the high profile marketing and endorsements which flowed for some time and caused much bad feeling on this board. when the Eclipse was put about as the be all and end all and suddenly, it's been ' eclipsed '

Mark,

Have you got both of them and how do they compare to your previous machines?

Cheers

I have the Eclipse and have tried the scorpian, comparing the eclipse to my previous machine is not really fair as i only had a a machine with a 100 psi pump with 2x2 stage vac motors, but comparing  them with other portables i have tried they are head shoulders above the other portables imo,i believe the eclipse may have better waterlift where as the scorpian has better airflow and with a booster box you can start copmparing them T/Ms.Doug, have you tried the machines and what is your opinion?
                                                         Cheers Mark

Hi Mark,

I haven't got either but have tried the Eclipse which seems a powerful beast.

I like to heat the water in tank which neither of these machines do  , as I think this is more important than a bit more vac.

I'm also concious of the extra weight that a triple vac machine must have.

Having said that I would like to try the Scorpion sometime ,  as I've never used an  airflow optimised machine ,  so it would be interesting.

Cheers

Doug

The eclipse is very heavy but there is a knack of lifting it in and out of the van which makes it easy without the use of ramps but i use it truckmounted a lot of the time, the scorpian on the other hand is very much lighter

ive too seen the eclpise working when i was looking into new machines , i only felt there was a slight diff in vac power compared to a  heavy duty dual three stage ninja vac setup , the pumps were on a par, but for that little diff in vacs u gave up all the heat opitions  in the eclipse, were as in the ninja u could still hav dual heat opitions which for me was a must and the heat u got out the ninja even at long lenghts of hose was brill best i hav seen in any porty, also if u add ashbys new clip on vac u then hav two heaters creating steam if u wish plus big pump , 2 heavy duty 3 stage vacs +1  even larger 3 stage vac at back of machine , ecplise machine 3x 2stage vacs big pump no heat which would u say would perform the best ? p.s i formed these opions before i brought a new machine

I have a inline heater that i use sometimes, but using heat is not really an issue when using microsplitters especially on domestics
