Got yellow pages throughin Aug and it was down to half its normal sze, well the bt directory has just landed and that too is half normal size. I expected it with yellow pages as less people now advertise with them, but it looks like fewer are now on land lines and must be using mobiles instead.
Any one else found the same?

We got rid of our landline (domestic) over a year ago and not missed it one second, me and the Mrs are both 40 somethings and live in a pretty affluent village, but, we never used the landline, and majority of calls received were junk.
Good riddance!

Simon how do you go about your broadband?

Think youve missed the decimal point Hector 1.8 max download unless you have 4g and the software to receive it ::)

Hector says he has satellite not 4G

Hector doesn't know whether he is coming or going, speaking to Mrs Hector, she confirms that he spends very little of his timing 'coming' ;D

Another one off the Xmas card list....
Now more people are getting a card than not... I have only sent 2 out.... and that is to my Mum and Dad.. and my sister..
I have a tooway satellite internet.. I download 18mbs and upload 6 mbs.. NOT 3G or 4G.. I was on 3G but only connected to 1 mast.. that went down for 10 days, and that is when I decided to go for the satellite broadband... I know it is satellite... I had to climb on the roof and install the dish.. Saved £120 doing it myself, and much to Mrs Hector's surprise ......................... It worked 1 st time :o
-
Hector how does that work in terms of costs, who do you actually pay for using the internet?
-
It isn't the cheapest method, but it is reliable... Before when on BT my bills were about £45 per month for calls and broadband (1/4 mb download) slower than a slow train on a slow day going slowly... It took 13 hours to download a 1 hr program from i player..
So then I got a 3G dongle and so did Mrs Hector that was £15 per month each with a 1 gig download limit.. no youtube then.....
Now we pay Bentley Walker for the broadband it is £44.50 per month but we get 26 gig fair usage allowance and it comes down at 18 mbs as mentioned before.. Once the usage is done it slows down slightly, but still a damned sight faster than BT and orange ever were...

Had no luck with BT broadband. I would complain about speed and they would always say it's a problem inside the property like radio interference. Until of course the day I asked for a MAC code and two days later they found a problem at the exchange.
I think 4g when it get going will benefit everyone and BB prices will come down.
-
Good point Wynne, that is why I only signed a 1 year contract with Bentley Walker.... It should be a lot cheaper next year.. ;D

I still get work from yp it's usually the over 60 age group it still make a profit but for what it is and it's diminishing market share it could be its last year, the bt phone book and thomsons were always a waste of money for me.
