Post by: paul marshall on December 22, 2012, 07:12:56 pm
my wife asked what i want for xmas , erm would your budget stretch to a slx , NO  came the reply , but it may stretch to a clx [ if she cancels her nails and hair ] anyway enough of my domestics , im goin to be ordering a CLX carbon composite 22ft with a super lite medium duel trim brush , has anyone got any objections if so say now or forever hold your peace , i know i can spend a fortune but for now i just want the lower price model , one thing im woried about i use a brodex pole at the moment and whatever we all think of that it is strong and robust i dropped it off a garage roof the other day and it just jumped back up and shouted come on lets do this  ;D ;D now this is ideal for me cos i am always dropping my stuff , i will be a lot more carefull with my clx but what i want to know is if it does slide down a wall will it be ok , im not planning on dropping this one of a roof but im just woried it may be a bit more sensitive than my brodex  :D   anyway i only finished working yesterday and i promised my self i would give buisness a rest at least  for the first week of my holls and here i am on that blasted clean it up arghhhhh im a windy getmeouta here  :P :P

paul i use a slx and a clx
the slx is a slx35 broken down to 4 sections so i can use it with ease, when there are two of us and then reassembled in two minutes for the big jobs
when i am on my own i use the clx18 all day and i think for the price you can not go wrong
some will mention the whip in the clx but if anything i find this a bonus as you use the whipness(?)to your advantage instead of using your body
i am sure the clx22 will get to most if not all your domestic work

but the big question is.................whats happened to the facelift pole?

Why not get the extreme brush? It's cheaper and lighter

well as far as the brush goes i just went on alexs you tube vids and the first brush on seemed like the best all rounder so i just went for that , without watching rest of vid , i will go back on tomorow and look at other choices , are all brushes 12 inch as my brodex is only 10 inch [ im talking about brushes here im afraid ] otherwise we may be talking more in the 4 inch bracket , but enough of my problems  ;D ;D ;D

it really is good mine has seen better days over 2 years old but still used daily so you will definately get your moneys worth!

im thinking of a 22 ft SLX to replace it, but might even go with a CLX again

Drop my slx all over the place and the only thing that comes off is the brush head as i leave it loose so it can rotate like swivel adaptor.

ive been using a clx 27 every working day for last 2 yrs & just sent off for a replacement no 4 clamp & thats the only thing its needed.  its still in good shape, do another year easy i think, dual trim sill brush & a stiff sill brush now & again - quality gear

I use a CLX-22 everyday for about 99% of my work. The short closed length means it's great in tight spots and the length is about perfect. Used to use an 18 foot fibreglass pole and a 30 foot alloy one - the 22 replaces both and is lighter and more rigid than my 18 by miles. Brilliant !

clx 22 excellent pole for every day use. Also have clx 27 which is good value pole but would not want to use it as every day pole.

Brushes are about 10 1/2 inches (a bit less than 12 anyway). Best gardiners brush IMO is the flocked dt sl (others for me do not scrub so well) but recently have gone back to a vikan on most jobs because although heavier I think it scrubs better.

The medium mixed dt feels very nice on the glass and is quick to use as it glides over glass nicely, but for me does not scrub very well. Probably good on monthly cleans.

Brushes are a matter of preference.
But in my opinion the dt superlite flocked brush isn't great.
It does a decent enough job and is good on leaded windows but I question the longevity of it.
In my experience they look like crap after a month!  ;D
I've got a dt superlite mono brush which is over 18 months old but looks in much better condition than the flocked version.

In my experience the mono does not scrub that well but lots of people seem to like them.

one thing im woried about i use a brodex pole at the moment and whatever we all think of that it is strong and robust i dropped it off a garage roof the other day and it just jumped back up and shouted come on lets do this  ;D ;D now this is ideal for me cos i am always dropping my stuff ,

maybe you should cordon your area off like nvq level 2 says and impact 43 you really wouldnt want a brodex landing on someones head  ;D ;D ;D
