Morning,i have just brought 1 of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130737260466
Used it for the 1st time today and have got probs. Inserted membranes and made sure they are pushed in fully (used 10mm allen key as per instructions) and switched on. Flushed for about 4 hours, however when i switch the flush tap so it produces pure water there is no water coming out of the waste pipe,it all goes out the pure side with a TDS of 50+.
As you look at the system the waste pipe is on the right, pure on the left. Tap open (inline with pipe) and closed (90deg to pipe)
Have i got this the right way round or have i cocked something up?
Or maybe system is faulty?
When flushing all seems ok,tons coming out with the usual dribble coming out the pure side, its only when closed nothing comes out the waste.
If the tap is 45degrees or less then it does do waste and pure, only with a high TDS.
-
try closing the waste half way, and test TDS.
then close it a little more until you notice the tds change.
my 600gpd has a waste out put of around 3L per minuit to a good of 1.5l per minuit.

Tds was mid 50s when i tried this, surely having the flush tap 90deg to pipe shouldnt stop all the waste water, but put it out the pure pipe? On my old system it was either inline or 90deg,no messing about halfway or less to get tds right.
Maybe thats the way this thing works, wanted to see if anybodyelse has the same setup and this is right.

I use a 4040 ro with a manual lever.
I have to adjust the pure to waste myself.
Check the distance of waste water flow when flushing and lower it by half using the tap.
Let it run for a while to see if the tds comes down.
I know if you run all the water to pure in a 4040 it will damage the membranes.

the manual flush RO i had, had a valve in the shutoff tap so when fully closed it still let through the amount needed for waste.
is there any sort of markings on the tap, maybe a waste position marker.
-
No,there is no marking on the tap. Manuel just says open for flush,ie inline with pipe and closed for pure. Maybe i do have to play with the tap to get the waste to pure ratio right. Will be something to experiment with whilst im off.
