When I recently changed from traditional I just turned up and started. No pre notification.
If they were in, I briefly explained when I knocked the door after cleaning and if they were out I explained when I went collecting.
I only lost 2 customers out of about 250, and they didn't give me a chance to even start or explain. I just walked away.
Had about 3 others who were reticent based on their previous experiences with other window cleaners.
I just said I'll clean them and if they're not happy with results , no charge.
I had worried about printing off a sheet to explain the in and outs of pure water but couldn't be bothered.
'As long as the windows are cleaned' seemed the most common response.

Hi Jackey
I took a long time and slowly converted my round over a period of about a year. In the process I quickly learnt that the fewer words of explanation the better, to the point that I would say nothing and just clean the windows using the different method. If anyone enquired about the changes in the procedure I’d offer the briefest of explanations.

We lost 0 out of about 450 + customers. Didnt bother with informing them, just got on with it. A few have asked questions and basiclly not beleved me about using 'pure' water but they all have got used to it now after about 6 months.
I once heard someone say that you wouldnt tell a chippy what saw to use, so why should customers tell you how to do your job!
Im in charge not them :)

When I changed all mine over I told the odd person, think giving a letter is asking for trouble
I lost a couple of customers ( one because I got her mud wet!!) she still to this day looks like she's chewing a wasp every time we clean houses nearby

To a large extent, I think customers are oblivious to the details in the window cleaning process.
After years of cleaning this one particular customers windows using WFP she remarked on one how glad she was that she had found a proper window cleaner as the last guy used to leave the windows all wet when he had finished.
