Title: Help/advice required re getting virosol to gutters and fascias
Post by: JackieW on December 16, 2012, 11:33:24 am
I did my first gutter/fascia/soffits clean using just pure water fed pole. Came up fine.

However, I have a 5 litre hand pump sprayer with the two  foot lance attachment and would like to spray the fascias with virosol or similar first before using the water.

Has anyone suggestions on modifications to get the virosol to reach the gutters?

I took the lance off my sprayer and fitted the  connection to suit the same as my pole hose .
I use fan jets so no other mods were needed to use the wfp for the job

All I ever do now (if I use any detergent) is squirt some directly onto the brush and scrub after pre-soaking the gutters/fascias with water.
Couldn't be easier.

Seriously though I dad 1 yesterday and big house took ages so I think way to is to extend hose from pressure sprayer thingy to get loads on the surface to be cleaned and use a pressure washer or even mix it into pressure washer spray

i just use a ladder with a ladder stand off climb up prob spray three brakets one way two brackets the other either use a scouring pad or climb down and use the pole depends how dirty they are if im doing the job i really like to clean them properly and price accordingly i clean behind the gutter and get in to the brackets etc and pull out any vents in the soffits

personally i dont think the brush gives a great finish off pole for my standards how i like to clean fascias and soffit and gutters

I split the lance part of the sprayer, sawing through it if necessary, attach one end to the end of a harris pole and put tubing in between the sawn ends.

Go to b&q get a 5l hand pump sprayer 7meters of clear 4mm id tubing a 5meter Harris pole.
You now have the equipment to spray your Tfr on gutters, brackets no need to climb a ladder at all.

With you on this one Richy. You can do a much better job by hand using ladder stand off etc

Larger commercial buildings ill get the pole out, but not for your average house

just ladder + stand off £20,     1 large washing up pad soapy water,  bucket on a pound shop bendy cable, hook bucket on bendy ties,   away you go.  mostly its only   dirty algie,  just washes off ,use scrubber side to loosen off,  smooth side to wipe down,   i only use pole if no easy safe access.,  i could do these all day.   so easy.  ladder stand off is a must for your own safety,   if you fall you may not get back up , easy to be parralised from a fall. live to clean another day.
