Yes, look what water does to rocks and brass is quite soft so your hole gets bigger.  :o  ;D
Having said that I don't know how long the water takes to make a big difference at the wand.

Andy

This is what you need http://www.worldofclean.co.uk/in-line-filter.html

Or you could try amtech, Restormate, Ashby’s, thebigclean, cleansmart

I wouldn’t worry about jets unless you took a sharp object to them   :o ;)

I tend to change jets every 6 months, feel that i need too and I can see the difference when I do. Thats the brass ones though, never tried the steel ones. Does anyone know if they last longer?

Does it make any difference if you work in a hard water area?

I'm in a soft water area but I do work my wand for a about 4 hours a day 5/6 days a week and I find I start to think about replacing them at about the 12month period as pressure starts to drop. How often to guys in hard water areas change theirs?

Stainless jets last several times longer than brass.
Mine have been in for 4-5 years and are still fine.
Might cost more but worth it by reducing the aggro.
