I like the idea of heating the water up and circulating it around to get the desired temp.
I personally wouldnt have all them drums to much faffing around.each to their own though.
How long would it take to heat a 500 up and how much gas etc would that use.at present i have a immersion heater and was trying to compare heating prices with you.
How much battery usage would it use trying to circulate the water heating in a 500.
Nice setup if it works for you :D
Merry xmas

That was cool vid
Your better looking than Montgomery !

me personally would not have all them barrels in the back of my van!i used to have 10 barrels when i had a trolley system.i ended up hating it!
i use a 350L TANK and maybe 2 barrels to take me up to 400L if needed and a pumpbox and reel.very simple.no hot system.works for me.
each to their own though.
good video mate!! ;D ;D

Great video.
Do you need a flue vent with that heater or is it ok without?
-
Good stuff! Another take on the whole hot system topic.
Aquarium heaters are allowing me to work in these sub-zero tempretures at the moment.
I’m supprised at how little heat is lost in a day from a 1000L (2x500L) body of water.
Thank for the video stuart!

It costs me £24 per month to run and I would have 25°c water all the time. I only heat the water as I use it rather than heating 300L and using 200L
The battery lasts ages as I have a solar panel on the roof.
Had I a larger van I would have a 125L holding tank for the warm and say A 300 L and transfer as needed. These things evolve as time goes on.

It's on for 20 mins at the start of the day plus whenever I transfer one of the barrels.
I leave the door open. No security issues here. It will work fine with the doors closed but will steam up. Plus you will have some fumes in there.

Would it be worth using the circulating water method with a 650L tank, or would it take to long to heat that much water up?
Andy

I'm not criticizing as it looks a really well thought out set up and this is just a question, what happens if there's an accident and say someone rear ended the van at speed?
Wouldn't there be a potential bomb behind the driver?

I'd be terrified driving about with this :o You might need good luck if you get stopped by the police. Here's wishing you well though.

Looks a great system mate :), are there any issues with van insurance regarding gas bottles and gas appliance regulations etc?
-
How does anyone else carry propane in a van? It's not loose it is well trapped by barrels of water.
Insurance has not been an issue as I am carrying it to the job rather than it being 'fitted' to a system, it is a seperate entity.
-
Well trapped by barrels of water? Mate, please think about what happens in an accident, if you think those barrels will remain in place then you are sadly mistaken. There isn't even a bulkhead.

I think it would be too big as it would take an hour or so to heat up the water. Thats one reason I use a small holding tank as it takes 20 mins or so then I heat as needed by transfering it from my barrels.

Yes, thanks for the tip. I will look into securing them some how. Any suggestions?

Top idea mate ............. working on something myself simlair at the moment ... like the circulation of warm water idea !

Difficult, because ideally you want straps over them side to side and perhaps even top to bottom to prevent them popping up in the event of rolling. If you could have a metal frame over them somehow that would be good. But then again, that costs quite a bit to fabricate. Isn't it a better idea to get a larger main tank and at the very least strap that in properly? :)

I have listened. :D
Well Strapped....... (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=162673.new#new)
In the past I have used 250L 500L 400L 400+250L back to 250L and now as you can see in the video 125L plus barrels.
An upright in this van would need metalwork to fix.
A flat 400 wont fit
A flat 250 takes up the whole of the floor as it wont fit between the wheels on its longest side.
Bearing in mind my last van was a Morvano Extra high top which I could get my ladders inside and had all the space I could wish for. I like the option of taking out the barrels and having some space as little as it is.

You might still be Colin Montgomery because the footage only reached down to a moustache. Very conveniently hiding your mouth so we couldn't be sure it was "your" voice. Even then it could be dubbed.
Own up Colin, the golf thing ended. OK, you never won a major but you did finish top European golfer seven times in a row. Is it the Moobs that get you down?
