I dont know why i keep going back to this customer the never leave gate open even tho i text them then ive had this email today
"Hi
Sorry the back gate was opened this morning, I had to go to a physio appointment following a RTA. Unfortunately we are not prepared to pay for what you done as the front porch windows were still frozen. It wasn't really the morning to be cleaning windows."
Ive got a clever reply coming up but i think im just on a rage now. 2 of the windows froze when i cleaned the glass not that bad tho. I dont see the prob rest of house was fine.
-
I would reply and tell them to pay £1 less because of the frozen window... Then once they've paid just never go back.

It really wasn't a day to be driving, either.
Get well soon.

LOL Griffin thats cheered me up.
No but i am thinking of saying this is our only income, if we stopped because weather was cold we wouldnt earn anything. Unfortunately we will no longer be cleaning your windows.
-
i clean windows EVERYDAY for customers who leave the gate open when requested and who appreciate my all year all weather service...consider your ass dumped beeeeatch!
-
Hiya
Id go back clean the frozen windows again and get paid.
If you want to leave them do so but dont get a bad reputation make sure they are happy 1st.
Sometimes you gotta do stuff u dont like doing.
Goodluck

They have been constant messers of late, i know what your saying cliff im usually alot more professional than this but theyve got my back up!
-
the simple answer is that your windows will be clean despite the ice. when the ice melts if they are not up to the expected standard please call me and we'll come back.

Yes, spot on, but write it, don't text it, then wrap the note around half-a-brick and...
No, don't, I'm only joking.
And neither should you strew a handful of carpet tacks over their drive; defo not.
Personally, I'd consider all these 'nasty options', then I'd let it go, I wouldn't reply to them, I just wouldn't go back either.
Flip 'em!

By now the glass is unfrozen and spotlessly clean so that takes care of complaint . Collect payment and dump you can do without the hassle mate . Mike

APART FROM THAT .......................
is the best phrase for unmasking any real problems - used it all the time when closing car sales.
"so apart from the frozen porch are you happy ?"
if yes is answer then fine just redo the offending glass
if no then you need to dig deeper
how full are you ........ if bursting at seams then time to say bye bye if serial messers.
if you need work then only you can decide what to do. :)
remember the 3 C's of window cleaning .................. its in my tag line just under this bit ;)

i thought that's just normal practice in any business. Just getting rid is not the answer although a lot easier

Yup but handy in lots of situations ............ then there is NLP but not too much up on that

From the e-mail, I would say they're not interested in the porch windows being re-done and they just don't want to pay. You could offer, LWC, and see what they say.
In these situations, I try and do the 'right' thing, so that I can look them in the eye because I have the moral high ground ;). I couldn't do that if I'd egged their windows, as tempting as it is.
Don't stoop to their level and remember some people don't deserve a decent window cleaner.
Forget 'um.

Just getting rid is not the answer
Totally wrong. "just getting rid" is EXACTLY the answer.
One of the best perks of window cleaning is not having to put up with knob heads. Customers need you MUCH more than you need them.
Don't bother with clever or sarcastic replies, you'll only get a sarcastic one back and on and on it goes. Just dump them and never think about them again. Replace them with a better customer.
-
You could always say it was your way of getting any BAH-HUMBUG customers into the festive spirit by decorating one of their windows with Jack Frost.
Some people always see the bad side of something, we however endeavour to see the positive ;-)

Am i hearing this right? You iced up two of their windows. what is the problem? They pay you to remove stuff from the windows, not load stuff on. I would have left a note straight away knocking a pound off the price, or got my ice scraper out and got it off myself.
You havent done what youre supposed to do. I also would have an issue if you came and cleaned my windows and left ice on them

id have took it on the chin if is a normally good paying customer.
i have never had water iceing on the glass but if i did id shut up shop for the day as if it freezes on glass then it will freeze on pavement and floor too. id rather lose a tenner than have a claim to pay out for someone breaking there kneck on the frozen ice caused by water.

I tend to agree - if panes are freezing over I don't bother working, or charge for what i've done if i've started and it all starts to go tuts up. I've had it a few times and expect more this winter. I also worry about damage to pumps and filters in the van if its massively cold.
Of course it does depend a bit on which window was frozen over and also if you are 100% sure when it melts it will be clean. If it's a garage window or one of 30 on a house its a different matter (and there again it wouldn't be a tenner) - i'd expect payment, perhaps less a quid.
Notwithstanding this these people don't appreciate your services simply because of the way they spoke to you and treat you on a regular basis (i.e. forgeting gates - once is OK, but a serial offender... nah); treat people as you expect to be treated I always say. If they had bothered to call and speak to you you might have had a chance to explain.
I'd bin 'em and replace.
-
A simple phone call would of done, i was in town all day i would of gone back and done something about it if id of known was going to be a massive issues. Now binned anyway.
