The current eBay machines are either too fast for carpet works or over priced for their age/condition.

You need a Yellow/Yellow or Yellow/Blue machine if paying more than £400 to get a 1990s on machine.

A CR48 is the best model to go for as it isn't much difference in weight from a Cr38 but has wider track. Make sure if doesn't have a fully enclosed head as those are the fast ones for concrete polishing or floor scarifying.

A tank setup is best part of £250 to add on.
