I am very new to carpet cleaning and was doing my first clean the other day. The stairs were hard work and I think this is partly from tring to hold the weight of the hose whilst cleaning. So I had a look online and came accross the prochem hose hook at around £15.
Is it just me or does that seem a lot for a hook and some velcro. Anyway looking for a cheaper option I came accross some weight lifting training straps. Im not sure if they would work or if I am missing something. Whats your thoughts?
These are definitely not the cheapest but still work out a lot better than the prochem ones. Do you think these would work? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150948284612?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

This is what I use to tie hoses to stairs. I used to use cable ties and then just snip them on my way down.
Always good to carry a couple corner gaurds in the van too.

Or

The foam stops damage to the banisters.

If you want to look professional about it you need one of Joe Bristor's stairclimbers.

I use those stair climbers, I ordered them the same time as a load of other bits from Joe last year. Delivery was within a week or 2, bit of to-ing and fro-ing getting price for shipping etc but all in all was straightforward enough.
-
Velcro straps, what a rip off. ;D
I use old bootlaces and something called a knot. If they are in a position that's going to rub on anything put one of your towels around it.

just bought some, cheers dennis, bit easier than tying and undoing a knot i would think

Love the prochem hook, its quick and easy just don't leave it on the window sill.
-
Bunje cord has never let me down in 13 years although looks like I still cant spell it.

Looks like its just me who snakes it through the top ballestrial..... or if I'm not cleaning the stairs I will tightly wrap the vac hose & solution line in a dust sheet, leave a couple of foot spare at the top and tie this to the Bannester
-
Looks like it's just me that knocks a four inch nail into the bannister rail then ;D
-
No mate, we do that too. I thought everyone did!!!
-
So does no one else use the velcro straps then? Its a very quick and easy way of securing the hose to the stair. Looks alot better than tieing shoe lace or wrapping the hose arond the bannister (looks very dodgy that and shouts cowboy).
It mighty be £5 or what ever for a bit of velcro but I thought everyone on this forum was a £100+ an hour cleaner?? The truth hurts me thinks :P
-
The more post's i see from you Dawg, the more i think troll! :P

I thought that was a perfectly legitimate post??

It was a legitimate post!?!
I'm hardly a troll Mrs Deep, I am more active on here than you.

Like CD the black velcro one with the padded hook.
