Title: Waterproofing boots
Post by: Barnes Wallis on November 30, 2012, 07:37:28 pm
I recommend Granger's wax.  I apply the wax with a cloth and then put a blow lamp on the wax to melt it in to the leather.

Don't do this with your feet in them.

i wouldnt wax any boots if you use ladders-or you will be greasing up the rungs once you climb up and encouraging a fall.

its surprisingly difficult to remove all trace of grease once its gotten onto metal. this last year i bought several new ladders and they come coated in a thin oil straight from the factory. to get it off i had to spend several hours scrubbing carefully with a scrubbing brush and fairy liquid /water mix to get rid of every last bit

Good old fashioned dubbin.

But if you use wfp the pure water knackers both gortex and leather quicker than regular water..
