Suggest to custy your only willing to clean after the wood has been sorted out.

What chems will you need to do the stairs?

???
Pretty simple, don't get it wet!! You do carry drop sheets with you?!
Do you make a habit of cleaning the walls at the same time as you clean the carpets? :D

You will over-spray onto the Bannester no matter how careful you are, if it's water sensitive then pass on it
The carpet will butt up against the wood on the side opposite the wall, it will be almost impossible not to slightly wet it.

here here but on the other hand you could if wanted and if you had the gear , dont pre spay , put cit gel on hand and rub it on the bad bits , then use a dri master to clean the full lot this way you wont touch the wood at all

Thanks, think i'll give it a miss, if i had the same sprayer as jim lad that i could use without any over spray i would of had no problem but thanks for the serious answers :)

Try wrapping cling film around the area,s likely to be sprayed, of course allow for this in your pricing !!

My answer was totally serious, I didn't say anything about not having overspray. Read my post again. DROP SHEETS. You don't have to pre-spray right up to the very edge of a carpet on stairs, just the middle bit, so bunch up a few sheets against the edge, pre-spray the rest, agitate and then as you're working down the stairs pull the sheets back down and just get along that edge with your hand tool.
Sounds like you were just seeking approval for your wussing out of a perfectly decent chance to earn a bit of money ;D
Not every job is plain sailing but for christ's sake we, as a race, have put men on the moon... surely we can clean a flight of stairs without getting an adjoining surface wet??!!!

I have the same issue with a slate floor I'm going to clean, I'm going to tape the whole area with plastic sheeting and masking tape (low tact) and then clean.... I have priced in the time it will take to mask in with the job... It is worth £640 so well worth it

exactly what Colin said a bit of time in Preparation puts your mind at ease and also lets you get on with the job without worry.
