Title: police road trap
Post by: wightsurf on November 27, 2012, 01:38:37 pm
Today I got pulled by the cops ,they divert you into car park then they look over every thing. One cop is under the van in the engine bay looking every where.the next one is onto paperwork and my details . Now this is the good bit the claim office is also there taking your details whilst confirm it on the phone ,two of them from different offices asking what you claim  (dole cheats ) look out.
If you have someone in the van ,they get mobed as well.
This takes about half hour ,was going to ask for a new MOT tickets  ;D
It wasn't the odd car here and there they where pulling in every type of commercial that was heading there way. They do give you a sheet of paper at the end explains what there up to and advise to show this next time we set up road bloke if you should happen to be in it ..

Yep
they have a regular pull spot on the A19 south between the Billingham  and Portrack Lane interchanges. They don't grab everything but keep a small variety backlog going. I'm sure there must be a spotter up the road. Part of the check with small diesel vans is a diesel dip test - you can see them doing it as you pass by - I've seen them doing it with cars as well.

At Ross on Wye Vosa are pulling vans and lorry's in a few times a week. I go by regular and not been pulled yet. But there's always a first time.

friend of mine pulling out of a petrol station, the police took him to the weighbridge without even looking inside the van.
After wasting an hour of his time weighing his nearly empty van, they explained that they had pulled him cos he had a blown bulb. Which they hadn't said before.
They wouldn't let him leave because of this so he had to get his son to drive out to the weigh station with a bulb. Another hour or so wasted.
Bear in mind he was pulling out of a petrol station at the beginning where they sell bulbs.
Thanks for that plod

Yeah I suspect they had a target to weigh a certain number of vehicles or something.
Thing is the guy is friendly calm bloke so he didn't mouth off or argue, which some do and so probably ask for trouble.

If the police do that then you should mouth off,  in a polite but firm manner and make a point of writing down there service numbers .
Then write to the chief With a complaint and a claim for loss of earnings.

There is no legal requirement to carry spare bulbs in this country and there response was very heavy handed,  been stopped several times for a bulb out but never been told I couldn't  go anywhere .
