Post by: DB Cleaning Services on November 25, 2012, 02:30:19 pm
Hi I have a 40/40 ro and di vessel,it used to take 6 hours to fill my 650ltr tank,it's now taking about 9 hrs,do I need to change resin or ro filter to speed it up thanks dale  ;)

If your sediment and/or carbon block filters are blocked then that will reduce water production.

You are supposed to replace these regularily. I replace mine every 3 months, but some do it every 6 months.

However if everything is right, ie 50/50 water to waste ratio, clean prefilters etc., then the problem is probably due to the water getting colder. As the water gets colder, all r/o's produce water slower.

Its probably the weather turning colder thats slowing down production ;)

You should have at least two pre filters before your 4040 - I have a 20" carbon & 20" sediment

Assuming you've set the waste correctly, this seems a bit slow

Do you use a booster pump? This will help no end mate - I have a 1000ltr static that takes about 4 1/2 hrs to fill

hello you should have 2 filters before RO as these protect it and takes out most of un wanted stuff befor it hits your RO  ( a sediment , carbon  filters ) then your resin just polishes it

It's now been filling 7 hours and it's just passed half way,do you think the ro membranes had it  ???

When did you change your pre filter last ? As this normally slows everything down first.
You really need a carbon block filter in there to remove chlorine as that will kill your membrane faster.
First I would flush the membrane  ( how often you doing this ?) then check filters (filter in your case,  then check resin isn't restricting flow if this fails I would get a weer cup and test the flow if water then check the pressure if that fails I would replace the membrane if you need it to fill faster when replacing the membrane get a carbine block filter at the same time as you should have this on a 4040 system

That is a long time , check your water pressure mains , check your waste tap if they arr right filters or main to sounds they need replacing check filters first as they are cheapest .

To test flow nothing just don't leave it flowing too long

it will clog your membrane faster prefilter a are there to take out chunks in the water carbon takes out chemicals have none would speedboat up at the same time would kill your membrane a load faster

Mate your problem I would say is the prefilter is blocked and I'm not surprised if its 18 months old :0 your lucky its letting water through at all

I have a pro 6 600l but my water pressure is at the min they recommend and it takes from empty about 10 hrs, so I am going to look into a static tank as parking eound my area is a nightmare and if i cant get outside my house i am stuffed for the next day
