Post by: Ajpick on November 22, 2012, 10:33:20 am
Hello,

We've been asked to quote for the cleaning of four show homes 2 2 beds, 1 3 bed and a 4 bed.

What is the going rate for this type of work, do we use are domestic pricing or is this work priced higher or low than normal work?

Thank you for your help.

Charge them as one off's and price as one price thats what i do and have had a contract for a few years, reliability is a must and make sure you write down what is included in the price as they tend to try and add things in for nothing.

we clean everything but charge for it.

Charge what they are worth to you. They get done pretty frequently so are normally easy enough. Be prepared for a risk assessment and method statement and proof of insurance. Oh, and often they are late payers as they tend to pay at the and of the month after your work has been signed off.

large companies are only late till you get on their payment system once on they pay like clock work, we are small fry on their billing system
Show homes tend to be cleaned 2 weekly they need it as they are covered from the building site muck unless they are tucked away which most show homes aren't

Also find out if you're being classed as a subcontractor under the CIS system.

If you are, they will deduct 20% or 30% tax when they pay you which you then enter on your SA to the taxman.

If you are being treated as a subcontractor, what ever price you thought of, add 50% and quote that.

For some odd reason, companies, when they subcontract expect to pay more than if they simply pay for the job done.
