Get asked by a customer yesterday to go and see her sister and quote her for window cleaning.
Has she got a cleaner at moment I asked ..... no she never has them done came reply ....... Aha so a 1 off in time for Christmas then I guessed :o
Parting shot from my customer is not to be too expensive as she not got a lot of money !!!
Goes to address this afternoon and finds it a big old turn of century large 5 bed victorian house.
All frames were wooden and were very very chalky so imagining windows looking like white dulux been thrown on em as soon as water hits them.
24 winows + massive conny.
Explained to customer will prob take a few visits to get all dust off frames and maybe even longer as paint gone chalky and as they not been cleaned for about 5 years I would need to charge extra the 1st time.
Quoted £60 for 1st clean then £30 going foward
Stunned silence from customer then she says the classic "Old Ted used to do them for a fiver" ... was expecting to pay £10 as a one off. :o :o

Tosh'll do 'em for a tenner.
-
Thinking about it glad I didnt get the job as all old sash windows as well.
She prob better finding a tradder as wfp not ideal on this house.

what this does show is the image, perception a lot of people have of window cleaners and there pricing.
I feel the only real way would be a licencing route or a legal course we all have to attend, pass a test etc then the public may have a better view of our industry and of our pricing....

dont think the publics view will change but will only end up costing us more, end result is charge what is right for the area and you wont go far wrong, not charge what the customer wants to pay,
