Hi as title says.
I now some of you guys have customers on standing order.
I want to do this not across the board just on the forgetful ones.
I am monthly but with the best will in the world would never get round 12 times a year.
Holiday, public holiday, heavy rain etc.
How do you guys set it up with custies say £10 job would you tell custies it's 12x £10 monthly payments or would you do the maths so say 11 cleans = 110 divided by 12 months=So custie pays £9.16p a month standing order.
That would be the fair way to do it.
But i think this would make it confusing to some or all custies, not saying their stupid, it's just the fact that people never listen properly or read a letter properly.
I know this from all the explainig i did to people regarding WFP; told them gave them a letter, then on 1st clean had to tell them all over again :'(
Might be easier on standing orders to let custie set up 12 payments at current price and pocket the extra :-X
Even if you gave back the 1 clean say £10 to custie at the beginning of the year they wouldn't thankyou for the honesty they would want to change standing order and as said trying to explain it all and the maths sums would be hard work i'd imagine :'(
My view is that if the standing orders are for the forgetful bad payers they are of the mindset that there not going to realise these details of over paying.
Any advice guys thanks
lee

If you miss a customer one month they just go into credit. Never had a problem with it.

Hi Soapy & Richard,
Soapy when you say go into credit how does that work then?
You tell them to stop next month's standing order as in credit, then tell custie to restart standing order again ???
Richard when you say refund you give a custie a company cheque from yourself?
Thanks lee

I all about 10 times a year so £15.00 job pays £12.50 SO no problem for my customers.
When I started it I had just put my prices up and offered them a reduction on the increase if they went SO.

Thanks Sunshine,
Good idea with the increase/price discount. :)
Think I remember Alex Gardiner doing this.

Lee don't over complicate it as its very simple they pay you each month 12 times a year & if you do it 4 wkly it gives you a month of space for weather hols etc my customers love it now as they don't need to go finding ££ & how many cleans is it etc simple ;)

Hi Soapy & Richard,

Their bill would look like:
Cust #:34247
Date: 21/11/2012
In Credit £8.50
Today's Bill £8.50
Balance £0.00
VAT inc.
We usually do everyone 12 times a year, if not we refund if they ask.

More rounds are done at longer intervals than the traditional 4 weeks or 1 month.
My customers are not expected to work out for themselves what they should pay. I simply add on to my invoice the option of SO, tell them the £'s to pay and any discount if applicable.
