Lots of phoning and follow ups. Door to door busineses is another good way i find specialy industrial. Shops are easy to get as you just undercut which i dont do as can never get a good enough price these days.
Another way is to contact local general cleaning companies and ask if they have any window cleaning work to sub out. Most of my commercial is subbed through cleaning companies.

Hi Gazzen

There's no definitive answer to your question but I'd say the the things you most want to be thinking about is building up a good reputation for quality and reliability, being able to offer more than the other WC operating around you, having a I can do attitude and being able to see potential business opportunities and at the same time understanding that NOT all business is good business, advertising helps, building up a business that gets easily recognised in the areas that you work and most importantly NETWORKING and Communication with particular attention to national/regional facility management companies

Once again Thankyou all for your replys .. Great input Simon w  :) . Im learning as i go along. Im enjoying building my business and meeting people . Can be quite Knackering at times, doing everything yourself.Just puttting the finishing touches to my website. For some reason i cant turn off lol, As for reputation. i always do a good job and always on time . Ive had a commercial business mess me about with payment and not paying up. Telling me it will be in the bank 12 tonight blah blah blah . Never came through . Just gave me more motivation to go out and achieve more. As for the competition. Dont bother me. I know with a hard work and commitment i will get there in the end. Then i can say ....... I DONE IT  ;D
Ive had a few cold callers saying they can get me some commercial work . my reply is .. NO IM DOING FINE

I will be surprised if you rank well with that site, some of the offers are good but my god your eyes go everywhere and the wording used to try and trick the search engines does not work anymore, one page just will not cut it, at least your trying many dont.
I have to say your attitude is awesome :)

Great attitude mate, too many expect to do well without putting in the work some get lucky but most fail i think the majority with your attitude although having knock backs do eventually get where they want, Well done

Thankyou again for input :) To gain the work i  got was through a customer and i just went into a business next door and spoke to the manager, hope to get his house to :),
As for putting in the work. Its hard, Ive wanted to give it up 20 times or more . Ask me that question now, NO WAY ;D. Ive found my path and im not running up the path,as you may slip . more of stroll up the path and take in all the great things along the way. I have a plan to make my business succeed. My plan is not overnight, More of a five to ten year plan. At the minute im producing all my water in my bathroom (as i live in a flat) & on a meter. Good job i got a shower ;D  and drive a old transit, Im content with the way things are going. Ive taken pics of my setup (bathroom )and van. As its nice to see where & how my business began. Then hopefuly one day i  can always look back at the photos from a nice big bath with a nice ice cold guiness. Then look out of the window and see  a couple of nice new vans ;D. Then say to myself i done it ;)
Till then i will enjoy the nice stroll up the path  ;D.
