usually a twist and a pull does it failing that warm/hot water on the pole this will expand it a little and free the neck

This should not be like this >:(
The best way of releasing it is to twist it off. Get someone else to hold the top section (wearing rubber gloves helps with grip) and then twist the neck off. Heating the plastic up can also help - kettle of boiling water over the plastic connection.
When you have released the old one, please contact our office on 01726 66400 and we will send you out a replacement item as these should be firm but easy to remove.

a quick one for you
i have taken delivery of a clx18 in the last 10 days or so,the thing i noticed on arrival ,on the second section the clamp was firm on the pole in the closed position but when i extended the section the clamp would not shut or fold over in to the closed position,it was if the top of the pole was thinner than the rest of the pole,i have to unloosen the nut to close the clamp?
any ideas

Also Alex,
I had a slx pole and it was sticking on all the sections so i left it in a bath of acid overnight, to give it a good degreasing but in the morning it had completely disappeared.
Should i ring the office Tomorrow for my free replacement?? ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for reply's will try the hot water tomorrow :)

This does sound like it has a faulty no.2 section. Please give the office a call and we can arrange either to have the pole back and replace the section for you or we can send out a replacement no.2 section.

Cant believe i put up with extels for 5 years, just got my 1st clx14.
Are they supposed to be rough when you extend them? its the "wrapping" design of the material.
