For the price, its hard to beat studioarts -- as far as I remember they do basic sites from £99 upwards
On average my websites would be 3 times or more that price, but I do tink that the value for money is the same as you get a lot more,..

I'll be honest & tell you I'm expensive!
Normally I'd charge £495 upwards for a site - for window cleaners I'd give a discount , but for a proper fully featured responsive site (Responsive websites automatically re-shuffle their layout depending on the phone/tablet/laptop you're browsing them on for best viewing regardless of device) you'd still be looking at £375.
I do believe that 99% of ppl will recoup the extra expense very quickly from work gained through the site, but wouldn't say anything bad about any of the guys who are cheaper like studioarts - its still top quality considering the price you pay & the hours that go into building a site.
-
funnily enough im having a new one built today. by this chap - http://www.wordpresswebsitedesigner.co/ . he is pretty great- he did regency cleanings site
-
Just built myself a new site yesterday www.seerssupportservices.co.uk not quite finished yet. Got a bit bored with the old one.
It's quite good fun once you get into it and wordpress isn't that difficult to get on with.
Cheers,
Huw
-
i am not a computer expert but how do you get traffic to your website.... I guessing it putting website address on flyers... right?

Hi Seerclean
Looks good.
How do you work with wordpress?
I had a go but couldn't get on with it.
Do you have the server side WAMP I think it is called on your PC to run, test and tweak etc?

do you have a waiting list .. if so how much lead time are you talking ? ... i will be needing a websire in new year
for those prices mentioned can I change content at will ?

That is not expensive, that is ridiculously cheap.
You should expect to pay about £3k for a decent website, and then extra for any revisions at a later date. A friend of my dad's had their website done (not window cleaning) and it cost £6k, and it looked very slick.
You cannot get a top tontch website for less than £3k, but then it does depend on exactly what you want. Any less than that and you don't get web designers, you get people who have learned a bit of web design and do their best for some pocket money.
Just like everything else, eg flyer design, logo design etc, you get what you pay for. You have to pay good money if you want good design.

Hi Nat.. is that with SEO .... keywording ... backlinks etc...??
-
i had my 2 sites done by a fella who really knows his stuff. He also set up my adwords.
I havent put 1 leaflet out this year as ive enough work coming from my sites. What it costs me from google, im averaging 10 fold in takings!!!
If you want a site that really works, you need to to get a proper web designer/SEO to do it for you.
If you want his details just mail me mjhaywood@btinternet.com

At the moment I don't have a waiting list really,.. I've a couple of small projects on the go, but could easily handle a couple more.
If you want any content changing you're free to do so yourself at any time - however I don't use any content management systems like joomla or wordpress, so you'll have to have a basic knowledge of a web editing program like "Net Objects" or "Dreamweaver" - easy enough when you get the hang of it. Or you can just ask me to do it (Or any other web designer),.. I don't charge for small changes & if you want to make big changes I try to be reasonable with pricing.
-
Hi Nat.. is that with SEO .... keywording ... backlinks etc...??
Basic key wording & SEO yes - if you've got lots of local competition with good websites you might need to use an SEO specialist, but this isn't often needed.
I'm avoiding backlinks since Google started penalizing sites that use lots of low quality ones - Concentrating on good quality unique content is IMO the best SEO you can possibly get & the most future proof too.
-
Still to build me one ??? ???
Drop me an e-mail Gav & I'll get you sorted ASAP. ;)

What hosting are you using? Your site is being displayed in a frame, which means that very little of the info on each page is visible to Google,.. and there's no point having a great looking website if no one can find it! Switching hosting may fix this (I assume you're using web forwarding at the moment) and give you better google ranking.

Hi Nathanael,
Thanks for the info... I use 1and1 Internet for hosting at the moment...
I have heard that Wordpress can be a pain when it comes to SEO etc...
I threw it together quite quickly and haven't spent any more time on it... But I need to.
Andy ;)

Its not really the SEO that is the issue (Yet),.. just the complete lack of anything to SEO!
If you view the webpage source you'll see what Google see's - normally its a couple of hundred lines of code, but on your site only about 15 lines are visible, all the wordpress code is hidden in an iframe pointing to your .com domain.
Your .com will be seen by Google - your .co.uk will be near invisible with that kind of web forwarding. ;)
-
I'm not sure if it's just me, but http://www.seerssupportservices.co.uk/ (http://www.seerssupportservices.co.uk/) takes SO LONG to load!?
-
Hi Tom,
Just tested it and it comes back at between 0.86 - 1.24 seconds.
Maybe your connection is slow? And had three cherry picker hires booked from it today so somebody is finding it!
Cheers,
Huw
-
Yep - fairly fast loading for me too & my internet is dismally slow. ;D
-
Sorry to hijack the thread ;)
Bit naive when it comes to websites - apart from the initial set up costs, are there any ongoing monthly/yearly fees?
Cheers

Just the domain name cost (Less than £10 a year normally) and hosting (£2.95 +vat a month from letshost.co.uk),... thats it. :)
-
Thanks for that Nat it's an eye opener for someone like me that hasn't any experience in websites - been thinking about one for a while & ill keep you mind after I've got my M.O.T out the way in Jan :)

That is so wrong mate it is untrue, you can get a very good website for a lot less than 3k we are not in the ninetys anymore when they were expensive.
a website is not just about the look, it is about the message and the marketing to get people to see the message the rest is secondary.
Backlinking can still work if you know what your doing (not a dig at anyone), Nat is spot on about low quality links and natural content has always been king always will be why google is in business it there business model to give the people seraching what they are looking for, simple business model.
Social Media without question is where the marketing should be done it is all about traffic and conversions back to your site.
This is well exciting to talk about but I really better shoot

Cheers! Its things like that which spell checkers don't pick up, and why I always use a proof reader,.. cause I'm simply blind to it myself!

Dave you have got too many writing on there, it confuse people.
Its a fine line - too much text will put viewers off,.. too little & Google might miss the point & not rank you in the right searches.
If you need a lot of text, put it below the fold - have everything that is instantly visible on page load simple & to the point. ;)
