Title: Electric pressure washers
Post by: johnny bravo on November 11, 2012, 03:29:08 pm
dont slag me off,   but does anyone use a high powered electric washer for drive way patio cleaning,   ive noticed the Karcher  K  series also have a suction hose to use for water supply away from house if needed.  3 years guarantee.    are these good enough to get started as you dont know what work you will get.  this has to do with a limited budget    otherwise it would be a petrol washer.  i just cant afford a high range petrol one yet as it might be just left idling in the shed without  not enough work to use one.
if i were to get a petrol one can anyone sugest a decent  washer to do small private house drives just to see how it would take off before over spending .     thanks up front if replying

Ok - a 3 pin plug running flat out would give you about 3 hp - I'd say you should buy a 13 hp petrol or 10 hp diesel machine as a professional machine. You should start as you mean to go on because if you get a bad name it'll stick even when you up grade. There are plenty of secondhand petrol machines about for sensible money

Ask for a day with someone - I don't think I could be any further away. Buy a named engine pump and budget to replace the pump seals, unloader and service the engine. My Honda is 7 seasons old and still fine - its just expensive to run a petrol against a diesel.

I have an electric Nilfisk alto maxi 4, I've done about 5 jobs with it and it has done the work no problem. I will be getting a decent petrol/diesel one for next year and use the Nilfisk as a back up.

You will have to be careful with electric if 15A you may need a genny. 13A is OK with a heavy duty extension but still don't run it for long periods at a time without a break
