Title: WCP users . . . what are you using next?
Post by: wpclean on November 08, 2012, 10:34:24 pm
Been using window cleaning pro for a while now, but because they are not doing updates, and not possible to use on a mobile phone am looking at alternatives.

Anyone switched from WCP to alternative software, and were you able to transfer the data ok ?

Thanks.

Looking to trial Aworka soon, however, needs a few changes to adapt to my business if it is to be worth the change.

Automated text messages being the main one.

Hi concept although it does not have  automated text message built in , when adding customers you have the  option as to wether you need to confirm before clean and if so  when you look in the planner at you work for week ahead on each custy that needs confirming via phone or text message .

The custy has a speech bubble on it so it reminds you need  to ring or text , Then you just click on custy and you  can see their phone number , hope this helps . Mike

I'm planning to add automated texting early next year. It will be an extra cost for those that want to use it, either by purchasing credits within aworka, or through a 'bring your own' approach, where you sign up for your own bulk texting account somewhere (e.g. txtlocal, clickatell, etc) and then just grant your aworka account permission to use it. The latter is easier to implement, so I'll probably do it that way first.

I'm against anything "Cloud" based or that requires an internet connection to function. A lot of my work is in the back of beyond & I simply don't have a mobile internet signal out there - I want a native android app with all my data kept locally,.. thats not too much to ask is it?

I'm also against monthly charges, I'd rather one big expense upfront & buy the software outright,..

Nath i tried it yesterday, i hardly have reception and it still works, it works with your browser using offline capabilities, no idea how it works but i was able to browse round the program yesterday, you sync when you have reception and it updates everything.

I to would prefer a stand alone app personally to but this does work.

I think a combination of both would be. Good compromise.

I can import your customer details from George if you email me your latest George backup.geo file to import@aworka.com.

Im with you on this Nath, i would also like a stand alone Android app.
What we need to do is get all whos interested and club together and have it developed.

I'm in!

Just a thought - there is a round management thing that runs in excel - it looks a bit crap to be honest, but apparently its easy to convert an excel spreadsheet into a native app - - if we could club together & pay someone who knows how it works to make  something similar (but make it look pretty & add some features) it shouldn't be a huge job should it?

WCP is great- I was one of the first to buy & I got it at a very good price, but since then not much has happened.

The lack of development could be a sign that there could be a lack of support in the future (I will admit I've always had top notch support up till now) and that makes me nervous. Every time I change/reinstall/upgrade my laptop I have to e-mail WCP to re-activate me which is incredibly annoying, but should support cease I could soon be left with a bit of software that is completely useless.

Ok then let see how we can make this work.
I have already posted the job up for grabs ,so let see what happens there.
My first thoughts are the following

As us (all thoses that pay for it) would own the rights to the app, where do we go from once we have it and new windys might like to buy it.We could share the purchse cost between the original investers into the app.

We would need a agreed list of functions of the app

I think TxT would be a good one.

@ Nath ...Are you talking about round tracker pro ?

your thoughts all.

Did the WCP developers ever design a new software program, I remember there being a lot of upset users venting their anger towards them ?

I know my phone with windows 7.5 wont run the lite of wcp
I also know that brad still hasnt answered my Q. on this, although he did send 1 email that was of no use.

Yep, thats the one. Though on 2nd thoughts it'd prob be very hard to integrate txting into an excel based app,.. although an expert may say otherwise.

I'd be happy with something fairly basic to be honest - scheduling + monies owed is all i need. Ease of adding/amending new customers on the fly is essential though,.. there should be no need to plug into the computer for ANY functions.

Some are very reasonable - we need to draw up a list of required features (This needs to be REALLY detailed) and get in some quotes.
