Title: Colloid in a hydra force
Post by: Mike Halliday on November 08, 2012, 01:37:03 pm
Anyone use either Mpower or Nemisis through a hydra force?

I've heard colloid can be effected by long term exposure to water impurities so having it premixed in the hydra force for a week might cause it to lose effectiveness, is it worth me getting some reverse osmosis water to mix it with?

I believe these type prespays should be thrown away if not used thae day they are mixed.
I think this was posted on the solutions forum recently.

that's what i heard, but i thought it was because of the minerals in hard water areas, hence my question if 100% pure water would solve the problem.

after all I believe the manufacturers buy it as a concentrate to cut down on shipping costs then dilute it down ( with water)

Can you buy colloid based spotters? If you can then there must some way to maintain effectiveness.

Unless your water is extremely hard then I can't see any problem with colloidals breaking down. The micelles will try and attach themselves to disolved minerals in the water but not enough in my opinion to have any bearing on the performance.
They are brought in as a gel and re-costituted with distilled water.
Using de-ionised water to mix a pre-spray will always be beneficial with any chemical not just a colloidal.

I do.  No problem, I use m-power that's been mixed up for days and it's fine.  I do always mix it up with the "softened" water out of my TM tank, but it's not exactly purified the same way as a WFP windie

I am sure it works with distilled water, as there M Power spotters that are made up ready to use. I always top up my sprayers in van, each day, just to be sure !!
