Hey check out what is in Richard Clue's van here:
http://youtu.be/yxudd5sa-nw
Richard likes to make stuff and although he is practically all DIY, it is surprising how neat his home made stuff really is. Love the pump pack he made and the spiral wfp tubing is just genius.

Fair play to the bloke. If only mine was that tidy ;D
-
great set up :)
-
Spiral tubing isn't exactly genius is it? Who wants to support all that extra water up the pole.
Can't wait for next months 'What's In Your Sandwich Box?'
-
'What's In Your Sandwich Box?'
Obviously yours is empty. Great feature Lee.
-
fair play to him for the neatness in the van - i envy that but not the 'arris poles
well done Lee on at last on an informative no self promoting video

bloody hell! cant believe im going to say this....but that was actually interesting
-
my take on his van set up?
rubbish poles and brushes
rubbish gloves(not waterproof)
i use microbore instead of minibore(easier to manage)
pump set up with 25L barrel........erm.....not for me!
folding warning signs are rubbish(they blow over when its windy)
i prefer unger ergotech squeegees rather than the cheap ones he s got.
he looks like a young wagga!!fair play if it works for him! ;D ;D ;D ;D
some people just like faffing about scrimping and scraping and making things to go with their set up.i have better things to do with my time when not window cleaning!lol. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
good video though lee!! ;) :) :) :)
best wishes to everyone

say what you see daz:)
if that was at vanfest , it looks like he just bunged some diy stuff together to impress
THose harris poles with all that gear hanging off look good sat in the van but will require non stop faffing about fixing once you start working with it all as it will get knocked and the hose will snag and it makes it look well heavy with all that spiral hose
not for me
clx for £100 cant go wrong
-
bloody hell! cant believe im going to say this....but that was actually interesting
Same here. That was interesting.
My van is a muddle inside. I'm constantly having to move one thing to get at something else. Maybe I need to get my thinking cap on.
-
Spiral tubing is just madness. Think of the weight of that pole.

actually dazmond that pump idea is actually good idea just not the way he is using it
great idea for people who use cars not vans who dont want a tank can carry barrels in car
and use as mini van system and if necessay pack away at night.
didnt see point of spiral hose mind you
lets not forget these faffers are the innovators who generally give manafacturers
their ideas for making your job so straight forward
dont be so quick to knock ;)
best wishes

Daz Mate, I think you have forgotten your roots remember when you were trad and took a long time to even decide which pole to buy.We all start at the bottom, the Lad is getting it together. I am sure his results are just as good as any. Harris is still a good pole served me well till I had the cash to go better.

That means a lot Gary :)

He must have spent ages doing all the details, but to me it does not look like a working van . . . . just a show van !
I think he also has OCD .
-
gogo gadget go, inspector gadget aint got a lookin to much hassel to save a few quid i know we all have to start some ware ,dont look at all pro. see what santa brings
-
Nice tidy van with some good ideas Daz you should not knock the bloke really , He has given things a lot of thought and spend a good bit time doing it .
But cant understand using spiral hose it will 4-5 times heavier than standard pole hose and most probably more expensive . It most be some weight to clean at height . Mike

can't agree more with the above - i remember a time when Dazmond posts and threads were regarded as highly as
richywilts is today !
give the guy a break - he's trying his best and shouldn't be slagged off for that

I think thats a myth?? The harris pole is so lite any weight in the spiral hose would balance out to a Gardiner pole.??? Maybe we should test this myth and check it out. Your right tho on his ideas.

Spoke to my boy Sam this morning in our Tuesday get togethers ( an undisclosed McDonalds in Leicester at 7.30 am lol) showed him the vid and I got him telling me all the ideas i sparked for the van I gave him. He is passionate, I like that. Told him to do what he needs :)

I am sure when you asked on matts cleaning forums for nominations for poles you could not include the harris as it was not a real WF pole ?
Why the change of mine ?

As it happens Lee was at a custys house yesterday and they had a sprial hose out back attached to tap had feel of weight it had water in and is defo 4-5 ties heavier , But i have to agree you do have a point on the overall weight of pole in video . YOUR RIGHT ;D ;D ;D. Mike

Hi James, at the risk of boring everyone in repeating myself, it was because the comp was for the best MANUFACTUERED pole. DIY of any sort were not included buddy. I have not changed my mind on anything - its a video with harris poles in it and a good set up from Richard. Hope that helps.

Just to clear the weight issue out of the spiral hose, the ones I use are not the garden type hose that u guys think of. Do you really think that someone would be that silly to use one of them!
This is a high grade air pressure hose, when empty it only weights just under 150g's. Even with water in it weights less than an empty pole hose that most guys use!
The pump and the barrel is only use on terrace houses that have no back garden access and saves dragging hoses through the house, leaving the customers front door wide open while you work out the back. Some guys use back packs, same thing really!
The fold up signs don't blow over when they are used inside!
I don't use gloves to hold poles, they are for other work I do.
-
Thanks to all the guys that like the ideas I have come up.
-
Spiral tubing is just madness. Think of the weight of that pole.
If I put a Gardiner superlight brush on that pole, the pole is lighter than a clx of the same size, but only by a few grams but still lighter

The pump with barrel is only used on a few houses, the van has 2 shurflo 100psi pumps in it, one for each hose!
The fold up signs are only use inside, not much wind there!!!!

Inside commercial properties, where there are a lot of people walking about.

The hose isn't heavy at all, it's not the hose everyone think it is.
-
The hose isn't heavy at all, it's not the hose everyone think it is.
It's pretty obvious the coiled hose is not the standard hozelock type coiled hose. It's also pretty obvious that if you've spent that much time and trouble to organise your van the way you have, you'd hardly be using hose that was so heavy it's almost impossible to use when window cleaning wfp.
I was impressed by your van. I have a Transit Connect and everything, while all very functional, is just stuffed in in a sort of semi organised fashion it isn't well thought out. Now though, having seen that video, I'm going to think it all through over the next few weeks and really work out where everything needs to go and make all the modifications to make working life easier.
Also, I was incredibly impressed by your portable pump. That is a real gem of an idea. Thanks for that.

Thanks, the portable pump is now built into a waterproof casing with a controller on it now, I have a more detailed tour of the van on my youtube, Yer with a small van you are limited for space and have to make the most of it.
Glad that's it given u some ideas and helps your working time easier!

Stay away from any type of flow controller. If you don't already use one, all you need is a £10 voltage regulator from maplins. It weighs nothing, is small, easy to fit and simple to use and does the job perfectly. If it packs up, you disconnect the two wires and join them together and carry on working plus all it has cost you is a tenner.

Yer that's the sort of thing I use, well not the ones from maplin. Lol keep you say that are lightweight and cheap, they do a better job than the digital ones, and they don't draw. The power when not in use!

Yes, very neat but it doesn't look like it's been used a lot. Do your applicators go mouldy after use in that box and stink the van out?
My van isn't that neat, it's usually grubby, normally pretty damp too from dripping brushes and soggy applicators in their tool rack and normally stinks from wet gloves :-X
-
Well done Richard for staying up so late and answering all the posts nice to have you on here mate i was not knocking you just making an observation .
Well thought out ideas, I struggle to put a shelf up at home so would not criticise anyone who is a capable person
Mark i stopped using applicators for inside jobs and only use spray bottle as you are right they really stink and using a spray bottle is just as quick . Mike

I don't do much trad work, they only get used on 5 jobs a month, unless someone else wants inside doing, so they go in the house after being used and washed out and dried then put into box. Same with gloves and micro fibre cloths etc. But yer I know what you mean, it's not the best smell in the world!

I thought it's only best to try and answer what i can as from the video you can't really see or tell how things really are.
Thanks, in that video that is the vans 3rd look since I got it in February, and since that video it has changed again with the addition of heater and hot water system, so it's a little out dated.

The Harris Pole is no less of a manufactured pole than one from any supplier.
all you have to do is fit a threaded end, then it is no different at all.
The only reason wfp retailers dont sell them is because they are so cheap, and they cant make profit on them

Cool, u having the pump inside that too?
-
Nah, won't fit. Screws on the back and all wiring concealed and protected inside. So easy to charge and check battery condition.
Mine has the benefit of a cigar lighter bit on too though I haven't found a practical use for that as yet. Maybe I should start smoking cigars!
-
that van is far too neat and clean to be earning any money ;D
