I've been asked to look at a suite which has had nail hardener spilt on it. I'm thinking "lost cause". Has anyone ever come across this?

It's worth a look.
Maybe a solvent will sort it, maybe you could cut/scrape it out?
Maybe they want their carpet cleaned also.

Id be thinking
am I wasting my time
what are they willing to pay
if I cant remove it they'll be pretty dissappointed when they still have to pay - unless you want to do it on a no remove no pay basis
will removing it damaging the upholstery? you might be held responsible then.
Is it worth the hassle for a min charge job?
Id swerve this one.

take precautions.... :o
Use someone else's name.... ;D ;D

lol Hector, good idea. ;D
Some customers will try to shift the ownership of this problem over to you.
"ITS YOUR PROBLEM NOW, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO FIX IT!?"
-
I'm well aware of the risks and have no intentions of tackling this job unless I can find a solvent that will loosen the hardener. I only posted in the vain hope that someone may have come across this problem and knew of some product that would do the job.

What I would do is say you will come out and take a look, try some solvent BUT tell them on the phone that if it is a lost cause the 45+vat charge will include a letter that they can pass onto their insurance that they have had a professional company attempt to remove it. At least then you get something out of it and they will then maybe use you for something else in the future
Cheers

Acetone has been suggested as a possible remedy.

Good shout, could work but this will be all about your clients expectations so inform them prior to going

Hope you don't think I was having a go at you, I was voiceing my own frustrations with this job.
I hate calls like this, probalmatic, risky and virtually no reward for me.
Calls for cat wee on wool I hate too.
btw. aceotone and prochem solvex would be my choice, maybe try prochem chewing gum remover too.

update...............acetone did the job. You just need to be patient until the acetone starts to dissolve the hardener. Works on nail varnish too.
