Title: Prochem SX2000
Post by: greg2040 on October 30, 2012, 09:16:31 pm
Hi again

Ok so I need some opinions and guidance please. As per my previous posts I am looking to add carpet cleaning to my domestic cleaning business. Initially I am trying to test the waters without spending a fortune (some basic kit plus training).

So I have been looking at a few different machines and think the prochem range looks to offer good value. What I dont want to do is get something which isnt powerfull enough to do the job properly. I appreciate that there will always be better models around but I am looking for the best all rounder for circa £1000.

Would you say that the steempro powerflow with a 100psi motor and one 3 stage vacuum motor is too low or should this suffice?

If its too low powered would the powermax be any better with 150psi and two 3 stange vacuum motors?

Lastly if I did get the powerflow can any bits be upgraded or would only standard parts fit in it?

Thanks in advance for any help.
A somewhat confused... Greg

Definately go for the powermax. 1 motor just isn't enough

Hi guys,
Powemax is a great level entry machine with ease of use and performance.
If you buy a used machine it will have a 100 psi pump and 2 x 1200 watt vacs.
When the time comes for their replacement for very little extra cost you can replace the pump with 135 or 150 psi and the vacs with the lamb 1500 watt vacs which give a lot of extra airflow.
Don,t buy cheap vacs... just the genuine American made units.

I believe you own or work in a parts supply / repair center  and  im sure you have lots of repair experience  .
Can you tell us what makes the '  American ' vac superior to the European version ?
Because i have e-mailed  Ametek and and they replied stating that the same quality control standards apply to all its motor manufacture plants .
You say you get pallets of ' American made motors '  shipped to you  ....  but there is no American lamb Ametek plant anymore ... so its likely you are getting a shipment of Mexican plant motors from an American supplier .

This is a motor from the  Italian or czech  Ametek plant ...
What makes the Mexican one superior in your view , even if there is some minor differences by all accounts the European vac is excellent value for money .

The motor that we bring in from the US is the 5.7"  3 stage  1400/1500 watt 117123-13 with aluminium flange and horn.
It has been the most reliable of motors for us and has given better longevity than the Czech. version.
The motor components are made in the US and assembly/test is done in Mexico.
Our view is it is the best motor of this variety and that is why we purchase them in quantity the way we do

Are you sure about that ?  Others seem to think not   :)

Also , even though the Italian or Czech plant  Ameteks  seem priced 'cheap'
both motors sell for around the same price in their respective region .
