Im thinking of buying a gutter vac.
There seems to be some disagreement on here about the wattage it takes to do a decent job.
As the 3000w models are quite expensive compared to a 1400w model my question is can a 1400w really do the job or would i just end up buying a 3000w machine cos the 1400w is too weak??

i had a 1400w vac and i just bought a 3000w with carbon poles!
i am selling my clarke 30 if you wish ;)

most of the windows cleaners are going to tell you 1400w is good enough because they are too tight to buy a proper vacuum 2400w or 3000w!

clarkes 1400w is rubbish, you don't know what you are talking about! did you work with a 3000w vac?

I have a 3000W and a 1500W
The Smaller one gets used 90% of the time.

It's smaller, lighter and stays in the van all the time. The 3000W+ vacs are better of course but heavy, baulky, and a pain in the arse needing much higher rated extension lead like Artic Flex. If you use a generator then you will be looking at a monster five to six kva that are impossible to lift on your own.
The little one gets whipped out, plugged into the customers electric and bobs yer uncle. Carbon poles too that stay in the van.

the 3000w you can plugged into the customers electric too, no needa generator

True, but it's a lot of power to draw and my flex is normally connected with the plug for my generator rather than the bog standard three pin household version.

Answering the vac question I've done loads and loads of jobs with a 1400w without problems.. It sounds like the Clarke is a bit rubbish cause the only people who moan are Clarke owners ;D. True
Yes 3000w is better by miles but you can still do the jobs on 1400w..
The suction is not classed in watts anyways it's classed in water lift and air flow rates
Eg one vac 1400w will be 46 litres a second and another can be as much as 70 litres per second

It's a bit like the hot water debate:
The guys who've just wasted 3k+ on a hot water system will tell you it's the dogs danglies, earns them a fortune and makes them clean twice as fast.
In reality it's all bollocs, it cleans a little better, it might clean a little faster but at the end of the day it's not worth the money. ;)
Or the Xtreme poles: they are a little lighter, a little faster but not worth twice the price of an SLX ;)
A basic Ionics system that does nothing better than anything else but costs more.

Super tarts ;D I must agree with mark here.. Plus doing gutters at the rear sometimes means walking your kit through the houses.
