Going by your description and the picture - £120.
that is what I thought, but being here and knowing the area I decided on £80 still didn't get it, it is a lot dirtier than the pic as well, in fact they are black or almost,
he said £50 and I will let you do it ;D I was about to say do it your self and you can borrow a ladder for £20
then he said think about it and let me know :-\
it was funny night tonight, a first for me was a customer who's mrs is away for the weekend asked if I could sell him some dope ???
anyway back to the pic I was thinking four hours work at least
-
min £100

4 hours work you think? should have been min £140 then!
-
I don't much of this type of work Ben so I could be over cautious on the time, more interested in how long you lot think and I can work out a price from that
-
I do these a lot, you would be quicker than 4 hours, id say no more than 2-2.5 hours,
is it to vacuum as well..?

im doing something slightly smaller,£75.00
i dont know anyone living in that kind of area would pay £120.00 i just think some wc over value themselves
-
Hi Stu - to do all the soffit and fascia (inc Gable ends) should take you around 2 hrs - the fact that are very dirty adds
little to the time and 99% on the time it lifts off very quickly 99% of the time, the dirt just helps justify the price ;)
(or not in this case ::) ) wouldn't do it for less than £120

It could be the opposite that some wc under value themselves.
£120 is what I'd charge for around where I live in Brighton.
Cheers

coming from manchester i'd say £120 is a complete rip off. even more so in scotland. i think 80 quid would be a fair price for you and the customer. location makes a massive difference to the price. i'd bet the price of a house in falkirk is damn cheaper than a house in brighton. always think its a bit unreliable asking for prices unless they're in the same area as you

totally agree

if you went on the hourly rate and doing it buy yourself, some of you are pricing at £60 per hour for one man, you got to think of the extra work that you may possibly get off the neighbours, I would have gone in at £80 with the gutters vacuumed as well, it's amazing how much interest the gutter vac creates.

£60 ph for specialist 1 off job is nothing special as a business rate - and thats what needs to be kept in
mind here it's a 1off clean not a regular window clean you need or have brought equipmnet to reach the
gable ends or over the conservatory plus time/petrol to and from the job + the time to go and quote the job.
why would you do a job like this to only earn what you would cleaning windows ?
Darran
-
I go with £120 in my area in Hants
-
I have done loads like that and charge £150
-
anywhere between £80 and£120 would be about right depending on how much they want done
-
Does any one use a power washer on these? I did one with wfp and found it a bit of a drag but money was good. Would like to do more but thinking of using a power washer.
-
I doubt that would take me an hour. Perhaps those that say two or more hours do a better job. I did just last week a bigger house than that with a con roof in 2 1/2 hours. And they were filthy.
-
is the gutters to be emptied out or just exterior wash and are u doing the plastics on the gable ends ?
-
... And charged £130. It might be that if I was full I would have aked for more... Dunno.

I will be going this way in new year
-
out of interest how much would ppl charge for the windows on this house, doing the con at the back & assuming a window on side & back of garage
i'd charge £12 for that but i've got similar in other areas for £7
i'm asking cos £80 as some are saying seems dead cheap for a job like that
-
theres 2 of us an id hope would nt be much left to do after an hour
would try at a hunner but would be willin to drop £20
-
Sorry stuart, but while you were prevaricating, I said I would do it for £80 inc. windows. It took me 1 1/2 hours. I tradded it with my boy. ;D

My link didn't work, but if you click left until you get to Carrongrange Grove, there is a wc with his boy carying his ladder headed towards the property.

I did a property on monday (gutters, fascias and upvc weatherboard cladding and windows), it was a reasonable size detatched house with 2 extensions.
I used the pressure washer with the extendable lance to wash down after soaping up with wfp and Ecover.
It's definately worth using the pressure washer on larger jobs and I noticed it does clean the gutter brackets up quicker if they are green with crud rather than just using wfp alone.
But it does create a lot of spray so have to be careful if other properties are close by.
-
how do you get the power wash lance to go so high
-
I was using one of these lances Bob: http://www.screwfix.com/p/karcher-telescopic-lance-4m/75182

Hi Andy,
which pressure washer have you got? thanks
-
Works out at £75 for me.
Internal gutters too, plus windows but not cony,
pure for windows but tap water for everything else,
last job would be to wrap large microfibre around brush wipe around the soffit vents for a nice finish,
would hope to be done and dusted in 2 hours, maybe 2 1/2

Hi Andy,

I just use an old Macallister petrol pressure washer (not sure of exact spec) but think it's got a 3hp Briggs & Stratton motor (equavilent to approx. 2000 watts).
More than powerful enough for gutter cleaning.
You don't need anything massive unless doing driveway cleaning.

yes that is why I asked for times as well mate ;) ta
think I will stick with my £80 quote, he can shove the £50 offered, it isn't if I even like doing these jobs so don't see why I shouldn't get decent money for them, I can make as much cleaning windows with no stress

hi mate id charge £120 all day long, i use hi-lo brush head (half moon ) with fan jets very good tool for job makes light work of it
-

Forget the soffits, facias and gutters; too much like hard work.
How much dope does he want?

Mr G never lets the side down , but i feel he is on my turf !!! ;D

To the OP...
Agree with much on what's been said here, particularly about pricing for different regions as you will get differing prices depending on where you are based.
You need to have a feel for how long the job will take you and then multiply that by your hourly rate and that's your price. Try not to drop down if the custie tries to chip you on price as you will then be earning under your hourly rate and why would you want to do that?
Personally I find this type of work harder than cleaning windows, therefore I have one hourly rate for windows and a higher hourly rate for gutters etc. If you can earn more doing maintenance window cleaning then it's not worth doing the gutters etc unless you are getting paid more for your time.
As someone has said you have spent money on your gear and therefore have the tools for the job so don't undersell yourself.
Hope this helps.
Mike

I use a power washer after vacing the inside muck out. I never use a pole on gutters.

Agreed. I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong. The customer always seems pleased. That job wouldn't take me no more than an hour. Plus 1/2 hour for first clean windows. I'd probably price at around £70-£80 inc windows on a first clean. For a regular customer it would be £60 for an hour's work.
-
I price according to how dirty they are a 4 bed detached cleaning high level guttering and windows after on all 4 sides £65 if not to dirty if they are black with dirt and totally minging £85 . Mike
