About 5 or 6 years ago, a window cleaner fell backwards from the ledge. Apart from impaling his leg and other quite horrifying injuries, he broke his spine and had brain damage.
I've seen him out and about a few times being pushed around all strapped into a wheel chair. I did once stop to have a quick chat but it's one of those cases where the lights are on but no one's home.

Hey ross, I once cleaned for an old dear on the top floor of that block (wfp) she had lived there years and said her old window cleaner a few years back used to climb out to clean them, he used to tie himself to the old iron victorian radiators below each window ! doubt its the same guy but what a sad story.
I relayed the radiator story to a one off customer who stopped me in the street once, telling me how her last window cleaner used to walk along the first floor window ledges, her response was "well in your line of work you have to take risks sometimes !" :o ::)

her response was "well in your line of work you have to take risks sometimes !" :
To which my standard reply is, " Would you ? "
