1) upto £500. We are not looking for a online supermarket or 50 page website just  an appealing  nice website with good on site seo, I think we should get this for less than £500

2) less than £80 a year but who cares if it's £200 if you are getting £100000s of work from it.

Does it matter? I can't imaging running a business without a web presence of some kind.
I believe the internet has changed the way society shops - including looking for services like ours.

David i admire your drive and enthusiasm.

But I always remember martins rileys advice "what cant be measured cant be improved"

everything boils down to money out to money in.

one of his other quotes comes to mind for you "turnover is vanity, profit is sanity"

ps  how many ;D

That's the beauty of online stuff. Things can be measured and tested and improved.

Garry. David is saying it doesn't matter as long as he has a presence on the web

Neil, you had a good mentor.

If you told people on here how much Martin Riley earned with one van they wouldn't believe you.

Another quote from Martin Riley (from Winston Churchill) that I agree with was.

Income should be raised to meet exspenses not exspenses lowered to meet income.

(Hector please dont bring the war into this again ;D)

I spent the day with Martin and he certainly knew how to charge 10 years ago 2 rooms  a stairs and a mattress done in  a hour and a half £241.

when i listened and did as he said i made as much, but the process to get there seemed hard.

I remember starting with the alltec 40 and a brush and i charged for a 4 bedroom bungalow £180 and they gave me a £20 tip  10 years ago .

he had a money making machine , what happened to him

I get less now because im lazY with the process and i live in my comfortzone

It was a couple of years ago I meet him after I did Fast track I went to a simenar at a cambridge hotel where he spoke, course I heard of him long before. If you do a search on here there are some posts by him, and good advice.

At that time he had sold the business to go into property delvelopment etc.

his best year was one van, one operator, turned over £175k

Craig, looking at that thread, someone mentions that they wouldn't want to be paying £1/litre for petrol. What I wouldn't give to be able to get petrol for that price now!  :(

Yes, and Martin says he fills up the tank with £11 he must have had a small tank too though, as mine will take £45 to fill up  :'(

Jamie.

There's a lot of variables.

1/ Website Design.

Build / Set up a bare templated design CMS (Content Management Sytem - where the client adds all of the content, including extra pages) say, £ 250. There is nothing wrong with templates.

As above, doing the work. Including on page SEO (whatever that is nowadays?) say £ 500.

Unique graphic design and hand coding say, £ 1,000

Keyword research and silo building , hundreds upwards.

Professional copy writing minimum £ 1,000, maybe a lot more. Professional videos or photo's, same again.

On going website promotion, including tracking, testing and re targeting say, £ 150.00 - sky's the limit per month (depending on competition). Following the recent updates, this just got many times harder.

2/ Hosting

Maybe £5 - £ 10.00 per month although most people would include this free for the first year.

In conclusion, maybe a couple of hundred up to many thousands, depending on the amount of work needed. In the right situation, a cheap site could still pull in a large office job worth thousands.

Tony whats your minimum charge ?.

Tony If i thought that it would do one jot off good explaining things to you I would . but over the months ive followed your posts ,you come across as a very opinionated person who has no plans to listen to other people's opinions  . instead of  :o u should ask  ??? then you might learn something.

ps I'm happy cleaning carpets for what i do and thats all that matters .

ps I have had the unfortunate pleasure (Not ) to buy stuff from Wakefield floor care and what a miserable g1t he is I gave him the benifit of maybe having a off day but no hes just miserable.
I wont buy another thing off him , theres to many option these days to be like him.

Maybe your a bundle off fun when you go out Tony but you dont really come across like that ,cheer up mate.

did a carpet the other day me  and col never stopped laughing , the woman said she'd had a right good time.
were in the entertainment business .

Ps £25 a hour ill stand that I live in a large town.

Yes, that's right.

All of my advertising carries my web address.  There's no way of knowing how many of my ads result in a potential customer checking out my website.  I've only just put google analytics on my site;  which seems to be getting a fair amount of direct traffic, so I assume that traffic would be from my general advertising campaigns.

David

Just use each type of media to direct people to a particular page (offer 1, offer 2 etc). It might be quite interesting.
